I have two daughters on the same U16 competitive team (16 and 14 yrs old). I wanted to get some of your opinions on the following subject. Most of you may be a little reserved about using flip throws, but since we have someone on the team that can do it I thought we'd try it on at least a scrimmage or two.
There is a 14 yr old girl on the team (defender) that can do an awesomely long throw in and she can do an even better awesome flip throw-in about 2/3 the length of the field... I have a forward and a midfielder that are very good with ball handling skills and speed. I know that there is no offsides from a throw-in... that is a huge advantage ... because she can perform a flip throw in ....due to the throwing distance it will be like a free kick - with "off sides" allowed... a great advantage to capitalize at a crucial moment of a game to an unsuspecting opponent team. Have you seen a "rehearsed" play where my forward or midfielder can position themselves for the long throw in? After the 14 yr old gives a signal... telling the other players to stay way back while one player is next to the goal post would be a good one.
I look forward to your replies..
Matt
