Scotland up to 13th, just two places behind England who have dropped to 9th after their defeat to Russia.

Looks like Scotland will be amongst the second seeds when qualifying for the World Cup, which is good.

Are the World Cup qualifying seedings based on rankings then? Always assumed that it was past performance in the qualifiers or something.

I mean Scotchland in the top 20.....

Aside from qualification I guess a Scots victory over Italy would have the added bonus of pushing them above England?

Used to be based on previous performance in qualifiers but UEFA have gone with the FIFA rankings this time.

Think this set of rankings is the one to be used for the World Cup qualifying draw so both England and Scotland will be 2nd seeds.
