Problem just started. When I try to load PS7 it works fine until it gets to "sorting font list" then it locks up and won't load any further.
I loaded PS6 just fine. I have both installed.
My OS is Win 98SE, 512 RAM. I have been having problems with motherboard and am running system in DOS. Need a new PCI card or motherboard. Could this be the problem? I have had the motherboard problem for about two weeks. But I have been running PS7 all day today several times without a hitch.
I have not tried reinstalling yet. Wanted to check here first to see if problem has occured with someone before and they found solution.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled PS7 and have the same problem.

hmmm... well George... my first suspicion is with your installed fonts. This issue has been known to be caused by a corrupt font. Have you installed any new ones lately?

And have you made sure to install the 7.0.1 update patch?

And... have you tried also looking over at Adobe's site for a resolution? This issue has been around for awhile, so i'd think they would have posted some info about it by now.

Mark: Thanks for the tips. I have not installed any new fonts at all. I'll check with Adobe site. But, a weird thing happened this morning. I tried loading PS7 again and sure enough it got stuck on Sorting Fonts list and then I thought I would try something. I left the puter and went and made a cup of coffee. Was gone about 5 minutes. When I came back PS7 was all loaded and ready to go to work. How long it took to load I don't know but I am going to time it later. Computers are weird all right.

Crazy. Opened PS7 a bit ago and she opened right up without a hitch. Must be the weather.

try holding Shift + Alt + Ctrl when you lunch Photoshop. this will allow you to trash the preferances file.

P7 woudn't load:

"Pref file has been deleted" ???
How? lord knows, dont belive it was.

Doing this allows P7 to redo it probably.
