i play fm06 and am barnet. i got a killer striker called neil harris, he played like pele and scored lots of goals for me he played 20 games and scored 18 goals. he was injured for the rest of the season and his stats just kept going down and down so i flogged him off to bolton for 10 times the amount i bought im for and he is now used in the squad rotation system there.
| There, a constructive reply!
As for the thread he found. Carroll was 28, he was still the best player I ever had, and stragely enough it was about how player's can return with their lethal form, whilst on the other hand this is quite obviously entirely on declining players being injured having nearly no chance of returning. Like Ronaldo. </BLOCKQUOTE>
i think harris was 28/29 when i sold him as well. barnet only have 10k transfer budget and i sold him for 200k so good business for my small time barnet team. i have done even better though i got bouzaa from watford reserves and sold him for 1000,000 after buying him for 5 k + add ons though bouazza is only 23/24 or whatever in fm 2006. basically if you have a player who gets crocked for a long time i think you should sell him on, if he is good you can start a bidding war on your player. which is good if he cant play often enough or you have little money like me at barnet.

On FM07 I had an amazing game with Man City. The entire team was built around Alex, the Brazilian playmaker who plays for Fenerbahce in the real world. He was simply amazing, playing in the hole behind either Adebayor or Julio Baptista, popping up with a goal in almost every match, either from balls played off my big strikers, from long shots or free kicks. In his final season for me where we won the treble (League, FA Cup, Champions League) he ended at 35 goals in 46 matches with 27 assists, not too shabby...
Basically he was the best creative player in the world, but at age 32 he was beginning to decline physically and never the fastest, his pace had declined to 12.
Then in pre-season he got injured for 4 months. He came back in November, but by now his pace was completely gone and was hovering in the 7-8 range. While he was still good technically, the magic was gone, and he became an easy victim for defensive midfielders everywhere. After 10 starts where he didn't seem to even get a shot on goal or be involved in play very much I had to face the harsh truth that the had gone from one of the world's best players to a has-been in 5 short months...
In the winter break I brought in Rafael van der Vaart for 27M£ and offloaded Alex back to his favourite team, Fenerbahce, on a free transfer.

In a lot of ways losing Carroll was more annoying as it really is the end of the career of my best player, not because he is the best now, it's just sad to see a player go down like this.
Though, I might hold onto him yet! Time to bombard him with "you would be a good coach" interactions!

In FM 05, I signed an aging Juninho for my Scottish Third Division team as a player/coach. He played in one match, scoring a lovely free kick, then promptly announced his retirement from playing.

| He's only 31. I wouldn't write him off just yet. Carroll doesn't have much pace anyway so a decline in pace isn't going to effect his game too much. His stamina might drop and he might be a bit more injury prone but I bet he will be good for another couple of years.
