According to the BBC news story about the fixtures (which are released today - remember no typing them out on here) there is also going to be 7 subs in the Cup matches aswell:
Quote:
A rule change for the new season will see clubs able to name seven substitutes in Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup games, rather than five - which will continue to be the number for Football League matches.
Just wondering why that wasn't included in the 'patch' that updated the Premiership Sub rule.
Presumably because it's only first been mentioned today. When the one about the Premiership was announced there was nothing about FA Cup or Carling Cup.
Seems a bit harsh to expect SI to include something that was previously never confirmed.
If they had done so they would have had people all over them for it being unrealistic. People all want something for nothing, use a bit of common sense
I don't think it will be long before the other divisions of the Football League "fall into line" so to speak and add the extra 2 subs into the matchday squad, although not likely in time for next season.
I would've liked to see the extra 2 subs be compulsary U21 players though - might have helped grow some younger talent (preferably English from an England fans POV).
