Default 7 Subs in FA and Carling Cups

According to the BBC news story about the fixtures (which are released today - remember no typing them out on here) there is also going to be 7 subs in the Cup matches aswell:

Quote:
A rule change for the new season will see clubs able to name seven substitutes in Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup games, rather than five - which will continue to be the number for Football League matches.
From: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7454259.stm

Just wondering why that wasn't included in the 'patch' that updated the Premiership Sub rule.

Well duh! How can they put into a previously released patch news that's only been announced today?

When it is fully officially confirmed, no doubt SI will integrate it into the rules for FM09. You can't ask for more than that!

Great news, mind!

Presumably because it's only first been mentioned today. When the one about the Premiership was announced there was nothing about FA Cup or Carling Cup.

No - pjburrage's quote says that 5 will continue to be the number for the Football League.

The 8.0.2 patch sees that rule brought in for the 2008/9 season, but not from the start.

The OP is talking about introducing it for cup games as well - the 8.0.2 patch only introduces it for the Premiership.

Seems a bit harsh to expect SI to include something that was previously never confirmed.

If they had done so they would have had people all over them for it being unrealistic. People all want something for nothing, use a bit of common sense

I don't think it will be long before the other divisions of the Football League "fall into line" so to speak and add the extra 2 subs into the matchday squad, although not likely in time for next season.

I would've liked to see the extra 2 subs be compulsary U21 players though - might have helped grow some younger talent (preferably English from an England fans POV).
