Making a (gigantic) tear/drop, 3D-look... Post #1 | | Joe Blow

Hey people,
I'm going to make a webpage, but I don't know how to make what I have in thought...
Without saying too much, I want to make a big tear/drop, which is to be placed on the center of the page, and used as a frame with the contents in it. I want to make it look a bit 3D, so any tips for making it look a bit "out of the page", would be very nice Oh, and anyone have tips to make this look "shiny"? Like.. glass?
Also, around the drop I want to make some sort of waves, going out from the drop in circles, though not necessarily complete circles. The waves are to be kinda "graph"-looking, grey, sort of like those lines you see on heat-monitors and music-visualisation, if you catch my drift? Anyone with tips on how to do this in a good way, please post a reply.
BUT, before I think about effects of this tear/drop-thing, I need to actually shape it, and I'm no good with drawing, nor do I even have an artpad or anything. I'm thinking of having the drop's top in the top-left direction, and the rounded bottom of it in the direction of the bottom right corner. Like I said, the tear should be placed on the middle of the page.
Well, if you read all this.. Hopefully you'll reply too..
If you have any tips, webpages, guides or anything else to post in reply, please do!!

Here's what I'm going for, extremely simplified.
The menu is supposed to be a partial outline of the tear/drop so that it looks more peaceful/stylish.
The frame on the tear will have to be bigger in order to display more contents, of course.
Well.. Not much more to say than that. Other than the fact that this is a poorly drawn proto |

Welcome aboard Nobu!
Are you still looking for a teardrop shape? You can easily create one using the "pen" (vector) tool.
Let us know how you make out...or don't be shy to ask for further direction! | |
