We can definitely do better with the resources available on the forums, but not sure a Wiki system is the best way to go about it. We do (or did) have the SIBase system on our website which worked quite well when people bothered to read it and was good to be able to point people in that direction.
We actually use Wiki software internally at SI and have done for a few years now so we're no strangers to that sort of system.

A Wiki is another means of collaboration, where everybody can read and write articles. Wikipedia is a very famous example of a wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
The disadvantage of a wiki is, that the content can be easily destroyed by a bad guy. But since a wiki versions all the changes it's normally not a big issue.
But a wiki needs some responsible who takes care about the main structure etc. so that it does not become chaotic etc.
