i meant using the "fake player" option so all the players are generated rather than real life, who knows if it made a difference, i don't feel like replaying that many years in a new game to find out :p

either way i got a regen worth watching even if he might not be great :p

If anything this proves m point that the managers details are taken into account for regens, therefore any re-gen based on that info wouldn't be a players' son! Unless they really wantet to pretend it was

that part i believe is true. if i didn't have american as my nationality, i don't think i would have ever gotten an american youth player generated in my youth team. course that's impossible to test as there might be a very slim chance, but i do think my nationality did have something to do with it even if it isn't an easter egg.

I have seen a reply in a post, from one of the SI guys, after this feature was first discovered on FM07 .

The SI person confirmed that if a player pops up in your youth squad, with your surname and nationality then the intent is that he is your son. It is a very rare event and I seem to remember that other managers and staff can have the same happen to them.

Unless some one from SI comes on and backs us up on this, you are just going to have to take the word of the forum users who were around in the late months of 2006 and saw this, I can not find the post any more and it is most likely long gone.

As you get no message or special fan fare, players who want to delight in this feature can do so, those who think it is cheesy can ignore it (or will probably never notice the regen shares a similar name).

I can only assume that this feature still exists in Fm08, but I have yet to benefit from it in either version.

He's not your son. Your son will share your surname. If its an unknown name, the database will still use it for your sons name.

good actually, my coaching reports have already downgraded on him within about 5 months telling me i should offload him :p

while he may not be my "son" due to not sharing my name (though i'm guessing if i used real players on this save he very well could be) still it's a unique regen. after this season i'll play around with it some more and see if i can get either another american or one with my name.

Oh it must be true then if you remember it! Everyone seems to rememebr it, but no one seems to be able to prove it. I dont recall it being confirmed, not bothered either way, but find it difficult to believe SI would put such feature in the game.
