Got a new laptop running on vista installed fm2008 and works fine. Went to prefrences to turn off full screen mode and it said something about system support.
Seen loads of posts on different sites saying you could force it into a windowed mode by putting -small_screen -windowed in the target box
Went to to do this but i can't type into the target box. How do you do this? thanks

You need to type it in the fm08 shortcut on your desktop, not the application file that it is a shortcut to.

Resolution? Colour bit?

Try experimenting with the resolution, depending on your monitor size. I've got mine windowed in Vista using 1440x900.

Thanks for the help but highest my resolution will go to is 1280x800

might just have to stick with full screen

you can use --fullscreen_width=1280 -- fullscreen_height=800 so at least in full screen mode it is not stretching
