'ey up all. first time update on here, so please go easy on me!
basics:
Leagues Loaded: All from ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, ITALY, SPAIN, HOLLAND and PORTUGAL
Medium database, player attribute masking etc. yadda yadda
Start u/e and apply for everything and anything.
turns out I can't afford to be picky as the only team interested are FSV Ludwigshafen-Oggersheim So Oggersheim it is! Who? Exactly! Wiki tells me that the highlight of their near 100 year history until promotion last year was a single first-round cup defeat to Kaiserslautern (0-3) in 1978. a rich history indeed!
2007-2008Oggersheim
board Expects Board want us to avoid relegation, I confidently tell them we will. Odds 2000-1 (ouch) Season Tickets Sold a whopping 53 *sigh* Finances supposedly average, actually nil
The squad is an odd mix. two players are full time, earning over £1,500 per week while some other first teamers are semi-pro on a mere £5 a week! sign two scouts and anyone who will play for me (very few). I release the two high earners in a bid to free up wage cap and bolster the finances but it turns out not even unemployed urchins will play for me, preferring to bludge the dole than shame themselves by joining my proud bunch of renegades!
I worry the fans by signing a host of 36+ year olds in an attempt to bolster the squad. we move into the black heavily (wages are so low as we cant sign anyone)
For some reason we have NO cup games ALL SEASON, however we defy logic finishing a creditable 7th in the Regional Division South. Lucky I realise the plans for the league split (top ten of RDS and RDN form next years 3.Liga) in time, as I was playing reserves in mid-table obscurity before I realised I needed to buck up my ideas. Unterhaching romp the league losing only two all year ]final league table
Promotion!! (of sorts!) it'll do!
season 2 and 3 write-up on its way

Board Expects Board would like us to avoid relegation, I confidently lie to them that we will. Odds 200-1 (ouch, better than last year though) Season Tickets Sold 54 (now that's progress for you! Finances comfortable. about 400k in black. No good to me though, still nobody wants to know.
Still cant buy anyone. players prefer team newly promoted to one of the (now 3) regional divisions than play for me! the swines!
a couple of my 36 year old journeymen saved us last year. this year their age is showing.
again, NO cup games all season! what is all that about?
we are in the bottom three almost all season, going on a shocking shocking run. luckily there are two teams much worse, even, than me!
5 points from safety with 5 games to go, in awful form and with my attention turning increasingly to the 'jobs available' section of the paper. I throw caution to the wind and go all out attack, while blithely dismissing all and sundry before me. The faux-optimism seems to work, and we incredibly win 4 and draw the other, escaping relegation on the last day! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn111/valenciard/germanthird0809.jpg[/IMG]]

Board Expects to avoid relegation. I say we will... Odds 200-1 rank outsiders Season Tickets Sold 58...sigh Finances had to sell two first teamers who wanted out, for 200k and 250k apiece. 750K in the black but board refuse to better the training or youth facilities and still nobody wants to come.
NO cup games again. oh well.
my ageing free transfer revelation retired at the end of last season, celebrating our escape from relegation as player of the season. Without him we suck royally. This season is only going one way, we have cash but no decent players. No youth players of any note and a stupid board (their original five year plan was to have a respectable position in the 2. Bundesliga by the end of 5 years - a jump of 2 promotions for a newly promoted team in their first year at RDS level!) Their lunacy is starting to impact me as they are surprisingly unhappy at our progress (or lack of) despite it being abundantly clear to everyone that we are punching WAY above our weight. (we regularly start games as 15, 20 or even 30-1 outsiders!! in a two horse race!!)
The wheels have come off, and by December we have a mere 13 points and are 7 points from safety. I tentatively apply for the vacant Gallipoli job in Italy and the board go mental, practically chasing me out of the country! I jump before I'm pushed by the ingrates as, despite being no quitter and gaining a real affinity for the club, the board are just away with the fairies. There is clearly trouble brewing and I have no means of helping the club escape.
Eager not to repeat the mistake of taking the first job available, I holiday from Christmas 2009 to the summer.
I reject approaches from Vela in Portugal, Hucknall Town and Cambridge City in the BSS before accepting the job at Spotland.
Rochdale finished the season just outside the play-off places in the conference and their squad looks very capable. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...rd/bsp0910.jpg
The current FA Trophy holders shouldn't be in this division and their star striker is a monster. This is a team I could do something with!
Auf Weidersehen Deutschland!

I was quite gutted, as I quite liked Oggersheim and was enjoying the underdog status. If the board had been sane and realised just how lucky they were to be in the regional divisions, let alone the 3.liga, instead of expecting to be in the 2.bundesliga then I may have stayed but it was clear I was on borrowed time. It was scant consolation that they capitulated completely once I left, gaining only another 6 points after my departure just before Christmas.
The step up from the regional division was way way too much for them. it was nothing shy of a miracle that we escaped relegation the first season, and we actually conceded more in the first season in 3.liga, than we did when they went down, but without my trusty 38 (!) year-old att-mid/striker we had nothing up front. It would have taken me ten years to get anywhere near the level the board expected in 5, and that's assuming anyone wanted to sign for me (literally 98% of approaches ended in outright refusal by the player involved)
pah, oh well, Rochdale has proved much better.... update to come

Board Expects midtable. I say, yup, no probs Odds 3-1 Media Predicts 5th (first time it hasn't been last place for me!) Season Tickets Sold: 1105 (yippee!) Finances said 'Ok' when I took over. a LIE! 500k in red
The squad is very solid. I'm impressed by he defence which looks mature and balanced. I sell the first choice keeper (overearner) and install the young reserve. Midfield is unspectacular but suits my tactic. The striker is awesome. 25 in 42 last year! I sign a good ass man and a couple more scouts and start scouring the UK and Ireland for talent, signing a couple of impressive youngsters on frees and a very impressive premiership reject regen right winger from a French isle called reunion (!?)
Cups FA Cup 1st Round proper. loss vs Swindon (A) FA Trophy First round loss vs Chesterfield (H) Setanta Shield Winners!!! 4-3 AET vs Macclesfield
The season seemed like a breeze! After a first day loss, we gelled. Totally unstoppable for most of the season, and 18 points clear at the top at one point! Unfortunately key injuries and fixture congestion due to the cup run took a massive toll on the squad. The Squad was threadbare and my mediocre board promise had meant that I didn't have the wage cap room to strengthen, even though the scouts were unearthing some very interesting prospects from the Eire, NI and Welsh leagues in particular.
Going into the final game I was second to a resurgent Southport who had relentlessly won 7 or 8 on the trot! (bar a 1-1 draw at Spotland). I didn't fancy the play-off lottery and the immense disappointment of throwing away a massive lead. Luckily though, as I cruised to a comfortable 2-0 final day win vs Bath the news that Southport had lost a tricky tie vs the third place team filtered through. We were up as Champions! huzzah! (Southport choked in the play-offs!) the cup run and low wage budget had also cleared most of our debt. Awesome striker excelled 36 in 45 games! defence was lynchpin, winning us a series of tight awayday smash and grabs (sweet release after Oggersheim's porous bunch of miscreants)
