Sorry Couldn't Think Of Anything Witty About Annagh!!
Frank sent me to Northern Ireland and to Annagh Utd.
Board want mid-table security by the end of my 2 year stint and the local media predict an 8th place finish this term.
Annagh Utd – Second Division – 2007-08
Awful first team squad, one outfield player was 48!! However we do have some promising youths, particularly a 16 year old striker and a 15 year old winger. I get rid of the OAPs and get in a whole load more 16 year olds on frees.
Start well in the league and get to Intermediate League Cup final where we lose 2-1 to Bangor. This defeat obviously knocks my team of (now mainly) babies and we don’t win another game for 4 months. We rally at the end of the season to finish 6th getting knocked out of all other cups at the first hurdle.
The old adage that you don’t win anything with kids was true this year, but high hopes for next.
11 players out for 13k

Final Position - 6th PL 22 W9 D5 L8 F42 A41 PTS=32

Mid Ulster Cup = 1st round
Top scorer – 16 year old striker (now 17) 9 goals in 18 games
POTY – 15 year old winger (now 16) 12 assists in 14 games
The striker and a DC I signed make the U19 squad.

Annagh Utd – Second Division – 2008-09
Apply to manage an Italian club and the board get wind of it. They say I can resign or face an undignified sacking, I call their bluff and nothing happens probably due to the bank balance.
Media predict 8th – Board mid table, I say I can get us in the top half again to get bigger wage budget.
3 in for 0k (GK, AMC, FC)
15 out for 42k (Under 19 DC sold over my head for 30k, mid season)
Looked good all season and hit top spot and won promotion with one game left, this was a title decider against Chimney Corner (great team name). My babies turned defeat into victory with 2 goals in injury time to take the title. Cups were poor this year.
Final Position - Champions PL 22 W12 D8 L2 F62 A34 PTS=44
Irish Cup = 4th round
Intermediate League Cup = Group Stage
Intermediate Cup = 1st round
Mid Ulster Cup = 1st round
Top Scorer – 17 year old goal machine (now 18) 25 in 27
POTY – See above
My striker has now been capped at under 21 level and I have 4 under 19s DL, DC, MC and winger.
My average squad age is 19 and this is with a 29 year old in the squad, still the future looks bright!
I sign a new 3 year contract with an aim of establishing ourselves as a first division team. Personally I think if we keep our players we are capable of going up again.

Annagh Utd – First Division – 2009-10
Media predict 10th (from 12) and board expect to stay clear of relegation, I confidently predict a top half finish to up the wage budget, no money again though.

5 out for 0k
We took the division by storm and lead from the first game to the 20th, unfortunately there are 22 games in a season and Crusaders pipped us to the title after beating us in game 21, we also lost our last game of the season. However I was still upbeat as in between those defeats we won the Intermediate Cup, it was all down to a play off against Dungannon Swifts who had finished 15th in the Premier League. After a good away draw (1-1) we blew it at home going down 2-3 after being 2-1 up with 10 minutes left. Next season will all depend on whether we can hold onto our young stars because they are attracting a huge amount of interest, especially my goal machine.

Irish Cup = 6th round
Intermediate League Cup = Qtr Finals
Intermediate Cup = Winners

Annagh Utd – First Division – 2010-11
Media predict 5th and board expect mid-table, I predict a title challenge.
No money, in fact less than that!
This year we timed it right, we were second until game 17 when we hit top. Again game 20 was a title decider but this time we beat Limvady Utd away 2-4 to leave us needing 1 point from our last 2 games to clinch the title. A win and a draw brings the silverware to Annagh.
Final Position – Champions PL 22 W15 D4 L3 F56 A22 PTS=49
Irish Cup = 5th round
Intermediate League Cup = Qtr Finals
Intermediate Cup = Qtr Finals
Mid Ulster Cup = Semis
Top Goalscorer – Goal machine 39 in 36
POTY – AMC
The board then sell my goal machine and my young right winger without consulting me. Without their goals and assists we won’t even make a fight of it so I resign from the impossible job and wish my successor all the best.
I will be looking for a new club and am pretty open as to where I’ll end up.
