Instead of buying a player you can wait until he has about 3 months left on his contract and then approach him.
I signed dimitar berbatov, micah richards and sergio aguero on frees as there contracts was expiring.

Thats what I do too.
It's best if you do it December, January time because thats when most conrtacts are set to expire in 6 months time, and most clubs havn't taken notice to this.

I'm Plymouth, and Have risked my Budget massivly a number of times, just to get that quality player in. My Budget was £65,000 a year, and I was on £300,000 a year!
But it's well worth it if it pays off and gets you into the premiership, (or if you are already there, winning it) and your budget slowly increases.

I hate the Bosman in real life, But Maaaan, I love it in the game!

at the start on the game i look at the players contracts expiring and i just shortlist the players that i might get then i just keep an eye on them and about jan 2nd i bid for all the players i want
