I've only recently got my hands on a PSP and FMH08, so not sure if this is just me missing something but the game seems to forget my custom tactics.
I've setup a variant of the 5-3-2 wingback formation with the middle of the 3 central midfielders running forward to an AMC position, but whenever I save that tactic, select it and confirm it, the game seems to revert to the 5-3-2 wingback formation without that AMC arrow.
As I said, it could just be me missing something - otherwise a really fun game
If so the games 'forgetting' of them is intentional - after all you wouldn't want it remembering that last gasp 0-0-11 formation you used during the final seconds of a cup tie.
If a formation is edited outside of a match then they should be stored in the way you want.
Marc, it isn't during matches. The exact process I'm following is:
1) Choose formations
2) Scroll down to the entry in the list that corresponds to my custom tactic
3) Press X to select it - the graphical pitch view shows the AMC run
4) Confirm the tactics changes, and get taken out to squad screen
5) Go back to the tactics screen and the AMC run has gone.
The only other minor complaint is unlike on old FM's when you had to wait to make tactical changes mid match you'd get some kind of indicator that you were waiting to go into the tactics screen, you don't seem to get that on the handheld version. So assuming pressing the tactics button more than once cancels the request sometimes it can be hard to make a quick change - if it doesn't cancel it I've had matches where I've not been able to make a tactical change in a whole half.

If you are at home and you press Square where it has the words 'Home Tactics' that will change to a greyish colour from black.

I had this as well. I created a 4-1-2-2 Tactic, saved it, went to select it and it reverted to 4-4-2.
