Default Q about match engine

Hi, I'm considering me still as a newbie regarding FM08, so perhaps the following observations have some reasons:

I play Falkrik (Premiere League Scotland) and during my first league match I've 2 doubts about the match engine:
[LIST]

the goalkeeper rarely throws the ball to a player but almost kicks the ball (imprecise) into the field. I've seen this behavior in other matches (with other teams) too...is this a known, not so nice, behavior?

The whole game looks a little 'static' I mean the players are not brave at all, they seem to be frighten to do a real attack and play very cautious. They almost never seem to break their formation, if they surrounded by opponent players.
I've played with standard tactics(442)...is this behavior also a design issue or is it common, that the 'standard' design produces that result?

Thanks for feedback.

indeed the patches tweaked the ME so it was more responsive to situations. some people don't agree that the fm08 ME is better than fm07, but i think the 8.0.2 patch tips it in fm08s favor.

Regarding the goalkeeper just kicking it, have you atcually set him to 'Quick Throw' in tactics, or not?
