A horrible first year in charge at Cliftonhill. The season never really got going, and bringing in new players to the squad was like blowing into the wind. The team had a real lack of belief in themselves. Finished a lowly 8th.

No wins in the pre-season left me feeling uneasy about the coming league campaign. I'd signed some new faces, changed tactics, but things fall into place. Apart from a couple of dips in form, we have a good season, and finish in 3rd. We enter the promotion playoffs, but are drawn against Alloa from Div2. We lose the first leg 2-1, but win the second 1-0. Sadly, we are out on away goals.

I decide to sign a new 2 year contract with The Wee Rovers.

The bookies have us at 7-4 to win SD3, and my players do nothing to dispel their belief.

Although, we have a good preseason, there's suddenly a dip in form going into the league, and I'm not happy with the performance of a lot of players. We're sitting in 7th at Xmas. Time to go bargain hunting!!

6 new signings at New Year, and a reworking of tactics heralds a recovery, starting with an 8 game unbeaten run. We pull up to 3rd by mid March, and that's where we stay until the end of the season.

Drawn against Queen's Park (Div2) in the playoffs. We win the home leg 1-0, but terrible defending results in a 4-2 defeat in the away leg. Division 3 football for us again next season

Muggins 'ere had an absent-minded moment late one night, and turned off his computer without saving FM08 first. Not a great disaster, just meant a different ending to the 2009-10 season.

2009-2010 Albion Rovers SD3 (revised ending)
So, back to March and the final few games of the league. Hit and miss form, but we still finished 3rd.

In the playoffs we got Alloa (SD2) again. Won the home leg 1-0, lost the away leg 2-0. So, still in SD3 next season

Unchanged apart from SD3: Forfar promoted, not Stranraer.

2010-2011 Albion Rovers SD3
The season of dreams.

Decided not to upset harmony within the team too much, and only made 1 summer signing. Glad I did, as the team had gelled faster than superglue.

First game of the season, we thrashed East Fife 6-1. This set the tone for the rest of the season. We were on an 19 game unbeaten run until mid December, and found the same form in the second half of the season - finishing on an 18 game unbeaten run.

Our strong defensive line was attributed to loan signings from Rangers reserves, and Hamilton reserves. The Rangers reserves man was deadly when heading corners, scoring 15 goals in 32 games. I was surprised when he agreed to extend his loan. Would love to have attempted to sign him, but the £200k price tag was just a little high.

A truly fantastic season. Top of the table from start to finish. The players bagged 107 goals between them, and clinched the Division 3 championship on March 12th 2011! Well done lads.

At the end of the season, I was voted Manager of the Year, and duly signed a new 3 year contract with Rovers...Onwards and (hopefully) upwards!

Time to step up a gear. I make summer signings, including one of our last season loans from Hamilton.

Losing all of the preseason friendlies has me wondering what kind of season is ahead. Fortunately, we get off to a winning start, and a string of acceptable performances means we're sitting in 7th at Xmas.

Form continues to be a bit hit and miss, but we chalk up some good wins against superior opposition. Eventually, the season ends, and we're in a respectable 6th place.

Scouting starts to strengthen the team for next season. Although there are some promising youth players coming up through the ranks, including 2 from our under-19s squad. Both were promoted to the first team for the last game of the season. Both scored.

This season started well, and there was real hope of further progress up the league. At Christmas, we were sitting in 3rd.

However, rot set in after New Year. Inconsistency saw us drop down to 7th, and we never got going again until mid-April when we were in 4th and potentially the play-offs. Sadly, a couple of defeats later, we were down to 5th place, and there ended our season.
