2013-2014 Albion Rovers SD2
Board&Fans: Finish mid-table.

Our 3rd year in SD2 kicks off okish, with us yoyoing between 5th&8th in the table. Form starts to pick up, and we pull up to 3rd place by mid-November.

In early December, I'm approached by Galway Utd. They're offering almost 10x my Albion Rovers salary, but I decide that my business at Cliftonhill is unfinished, and stay put.

We hang on to 3rd place in the league until mid-March, when a run of poor results drops us into 5th. Form is dodgy for the rest of the season, and we're in danger of missing out on the playoffs. However, a 5-1 thrashing of Peterhead on the last day of the season puts us into 3rd place - but it's not where I want to be, knowing that we'll be drawn against an SD1 side in the playoffs.

Our playoff opponents Livingston play us off the park, winning 5-0 on agg. We're going nowhere for now.

I sign a new 2 year deal at the end of the season.

Just on a side note, there's a playoffs bug! If you lose in the playoff semi-final, the game and team board treat it as if you finished 10th in the division. They don't like me now

I had a similar thing in FM07 with Raceview Rangers in the NI 2nd Division - only that I won a relegation playoff and the board thought I'd won the league!

Still, steady progress and KUTGW, if the board can stop their stupidity of course!

If we go up this year, I'm just hoping the cheapskates on the Board give me some transfer money. In the 6 years I've been at Rovers they've only given me £1k to spend. Thank the maker for frees & loans!

2014-2015 Albion Rovers SD2
Board&Fans: Mid-table finish.

During the summer break, I sign 4 players in an effort to improve the squad for a promotion push.

This seems to work for the first half of the season, with us never dropping below 2nd place. Only Ross County are ahead of us, annoyingly only by 1 point and never slipping up!

Form after Christmas takes a real turn for the worse, with some abysmal performances. The prolific new striker, who was bagging an average of 2 goals a game before Xmas, now cannot hit an aircraft hangar door. Our points cushion erodes away, and we struggle to finish the season in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it's in the dreaded 3rd place.

Our playoff semi-final opponents are SD1 team Clyde. The home leg is appalling - mainly thanks to one of our idiot defenders being sent off after 3 minutes. He got his arse kicked, let me tell you! Anyway, to cut a long story short, we lost 7-1 in the home leg, lost 6-1 in the away leg (with 11 men). 13-2 on aggregate. If I hadn't cried, I would have laughed...

One year left on my current Rovers contract, and it could well be the last. I get the feeling this club is at its full potential. Sad, but true.
