Well done on the double promotion. Hope your chairman doesn't start selling players behind your back to pay down the debt.

Season 5 – Rovigo – Italian Serie B
Signed 6 new players, 4 of whom were good, wage budget 25k for the season, I was spending 38k. Every other team in the league has a player on at least 15k per week alone. Stingy board. Stadium expanded to 7,000 \o/ but won't be complete till late season so Im playing my games in a 2000 seater until then /o\. Stumbled through the season, last day decided which team ranging from 13th to 17th would go into the playouts for relegation, cuffed relegation rivals 3-1 and finished 13th (highest position of the season). Survival. Saw out post-season, board offered me wage budget for next term of 25k again. I resigned!
Top Goalscorer – New ST - 13
POTY – Young Swiss GK (now an international)
Highlight – Surviving with a wage budget that could only pay a couple of players wages in every other team.
Lowlight – No backing from the board for the next season. I could not sign any new talent and lost 4 of my star players for nowt. I was definitely going down next season. Good luck giant Italian centre half who recieved a headbutt to the chest from a genius, the jobs yours.

This sounds a lot like Castel di Sangro, Mark. Excellent job, surviving Seria B with these guys.
Interesting to see who's the next manager too. |

Funnily enough when I started this game I started 'The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro' and thats why Italy was my chosen destination after Union Berlin. I got that feeling about it as well but really wanted to push on, shame the board couldn't match my expectations, I mean we were losing over 100k per month playing in the small 2000 seater but when we moved back to our new stadium we filled it every week, never less than 6,900 punters so the profit would have came this next season.
Unfortunately some massive teams came down (Napoli, Sampdoria and Parma) and large teams came back up from C1 (Brescia, Treviso) and the league was undoubtedly stronger for next term. The Serie A relegated teams each had more than 1 player on more than my boards proposed team wage budget alone.
Must admit I thought I had achieved a lot and deserved maybe another Serie B job at least.... how wrong I am, only job offer so far has been from Belgian third division and no teams of any stature will even consider me, might just head back to the bottom in Italy and start again!

I'm sorry you don't get a better job. Good luck with a fresh beginning then!

The weakness in FM is that you can't bribe anyone in Italy. |

Haha I've read that book, was quite a good one. A similar book I found to be good was one on Liechtenstein's 2002 World Cup Qualifying campaign. Stamping Grounds I believe it was called.
