well i was a little disappointed nobody made any new threads like this over the past week, but oh well.

as you would recall i started the new season with ancona, but as my time was "up" i was applying for every job there was, this was causing some problems in the squad however, as half my players didn't like me anymore

so around christmas eve, i resigned and went on holiday, got offered a job with hyde united a few days later. i thought i deserved a higher up job but there you go.

hyde are absolute rubbish 650K in debt, wage bill is tiny, maybe 1, 2 decent players, the rest are hacks, one of the better performing players is 38 with a pace rating of 1 the board have refused to let me sign any new players which might be a problem in the off season when i let 75% of the squad leave

i did the usual things you do when you arrive at a new club, hired new staff, sacked the scouts, released the dodgy players, terminated some loans, introduced a new training regime and tactics

we started promising with a 1-1 draw at league leaders halifax away, then 1-1 at home with a higher placed club. then it all went to **** and we lost 3-1, 4-1, and ... 6-1

checked the squad.. i had been using the wrong young GK handling of 5, so no wonder so out he went, and in goes my 16 yr old GK ready to make his debut.

board want me to achieve mid table this season, at the moment we are 16th with 5 months of football to play but the squad is very poor so a relegation could be on the cards. team is a mixture of over 30's and under 17's not sure how well they will gel.

I've had the game run on holiday mode for the entire day. It's about ready now, having nearly come to 2027 season. It will feel a lot more comfortable to start out with a more realistic age of 47. And it will be bliss to start in a different environment than the standard, with all the known players gone. And hopefully the Big Four somewhat weakened, and with some surprises in the PL. Also looking forward to what the BSS/N looks like :thup:

Have started several saves over the last few weeks, but none have stuck. So I needed to try something different. Hopefully I'll be able to get into this save.

Only dared to tick England on Large database. Otherwise I'd spend a week playtime a season I fear.

Barside

Since the Sunday update I've been relegated back to SD3 & the bounced right back to following season.

Currently sitting top of SD2 after 11 games & trying to work out what I should buy with the £400K I recieved for our over-rated striker, as my scouts are lazy sods it wont be a player because they've found none worth looking at.

Haven't really played for about two weeks, what with holidays and "life". Fully intend to make up for that tonight.

Finished my GCSE's, so high time to increase my FM playing time.

Got promoted to Swedish Superettan, predicted 16th (out of 16)after 12 games am sitting 7th. Goals all oveer the shop. A couple of 5-1 wins, a 6-0, a 6-3, all marred by a 5-0, 4-0 and 5-1 loss nearby.

A good 3-3 draw at Crawley followed by a highly frustrating 2-2 draw at home against Grays, after leading 2-0 at half-time. The dreaded scoreline struck again

My star striker is still scoring for fun, my defenders are still running around like headless chickens.

Lost in Beer

Became madly frustrated with FM08, not with My Harrogate team, but the general age it takes to process and play a season so i gave up and went back to my FM05 save.

5th season in and im in the Championship with my beloved Poppies (Kettering Town just in case you didnt know) sitting midtable after half the season with a decent young team, i easily beat the bottom half of the table but get soundly beaten by the top half with the added joy that my 2 best players can't stand each other, and i cant cope against most of the teams in the Championship without both of them playing.

I think this is one of the main reasons I haven't managed to get into FM08 yet. In addition it feels like I don't have good control over much. Doesn't seem to matter much how I set up tactics. And I'm starting to detest all the PR crap. Can't there be a choice to let the cleaning lady talk to the press?

Don't get me wrong, I love the scouting and I actually enjoy the training and tactical tweaks, it's just that it takes an age to play, maybe i just need to update my P2 300mghz PC for something newer........
