Default Starting Unemployed

Firstly, let me just say that I am new to these forums although not new to FM as have had the last 6 or 7 and racked up many hours of gameplay.
I have never started a game unemployed before but after reading the LLM boards I decided to start a save doing it ‘your way’. I have always played to similar guidelines myself anyway with the exception of the search feature so I thought it would be fun to give it a go.

Anyway, when starting unemployed I holidayed and let the computer apply for jobs until I finally got a job at Braintree on February 28th, I just have a couple of questions that I figured you guys would know the answers to:

1) Does it always take this long to get a first job?

2) Does it make it more difficult to get a job by applying for all available jobs as I’ve heard this is the case?

3) What’s the longest anyone has had to wait for job either at the start or during a save?

4) Is it better for an LLM game to start unemployed or choose a club from the lowest leagues? Or is that just a personal choice?

There's no need to start unemployed. Take a random club in the lowest playable division of a nation, and you're okay. Pick either regarding your colour taste or because of a team name that looks funny. Or just ask Frank, the random team generator.

1) I guess this depends on how many leagues you load

2) I don't think so

3) Never long for me

4) I'd say personal choice. People seem to differ when it comes to this. There's always Frank, he'll sort you out.

1 - In the first season I guess that it would take a bit longer as there are not many clubs with no manager or a reason to sack and replace in the first few months.

2 - Not that I am aware of.

3 - As long as you want to hold out for a particular job, or immediately at the start of a new season by taking charge at the newly promoted BSS or BSN team full of greys, who will be desperate for a manager!

4 - Ask Frank, our career crystal ball.

I'm also new on these forums, just had a quick look at the rules and gotta say it looks insane, but I love it. I've allways played at the lowest level possible, but never thought abut stuff like search screen, staff hiring etc. It looks like I'll end up smoking two packs a day again but I'll give it a try..
So about these questions..I like starting unemployed too,but It doesn't quite work for me,I think it got something to do with age and nationality, since I am 27yr old Bosnian I don't have much chanse of being hired by an English club, but germans seem to like me  (Oggersheim )
I'm trying to be as real as possible, but I tried adding English as my second nationality and got hired in england much easier..

Thanks for the replies guys,

I think in terms of realism its better to either be unemployed or 'ask frank' but it really depends on personal preference.

I can see how nationality would affect likely job offers, does age play a part do you think?

speaking of which does anyone know the youngest age you can be as a manager as I am 21 but putting my dob in changes me to 30 every time!

Addict you can choose to be any nationality you like. Some guys play there own nationality others dont, there is no guideline on it.

Ian is always scottish, I play as the nationality of of the country I start in.

Realism...hmmmm...

Let me explain that again

It's "As realistic as the game allows".

It takes care of certain aspects, like allowing you to send scouts in the country you manage, like altering your age if you're "too young", but you have to use "realistic" choices defined by yourself.

Look at "realistic". Is it realistic for a club to employ a 15 year old schoolboy, or a 35 year old IT worker, or a 48 year old ex-paramedic as a manager?

Some would say starting unemployed, in itself, is unrealistic as no club would employ any of those three, but then again...asking a llama to do it for you?

Bottom line...it's your choice

hmmm..never thought of it that way..
ok,my bad
it's just that i love to try not to change deafault game setup,or sack some dude loved by the club, players and fans that has been at the club for years..so I've allways prefered to start unemployed..
I guess I'm just too sentimental

I know what you mean.

I suppose it's too easy to follow the "make it difficult" route rather than the "play it realistic" way.

Still...god luck whichever way you choose
