Not sure if it has been brought up recently or not... but I was getting frustrated with a particular game (the sharks misadventure), when suddenly realized...
What is a particular incentive that keeps you guys playing a game, and when do you decide to start a new one or throw the computer out the window? Is it the ambition, is it an attempt to play different teams?
What is that sole thing that keeps you at a particular club? Makes a bond with a particular player, or fans? Given the artificiality of the game and not having the real life fireworks. when do you say "stop, no more" or just keep sloughing away?

trophies are a goal usually, sometimes you do get an emotional attachment those little names on the screen (sad i know!! ) and you just want to do it for them although sometimes you have a really bad chairman and you can't wait to leave, or run their team into the ground as well
i normally load a lot of different leagues in my saves so i can keep playing the same save for a long time by switching countries etc
I give up on a team when I've been playing for a long time and they start to underachieve for no reason. Sometimes I delete the save game and then regret it later on.
I always get emotionally attached to a team. Usually in the first or second season. To the extent where I look up their webpage, check how they do IRL etc :o
So I find it very hard to leave a club unless I feel forced to. The exception is ****y chairmen. They can really destroy your game. So if that happens I cut my emotional losses and find a new team. But this rarely happens tbh.
The first season is usually rough for me, as the team plays like ****. Even though I am a llama I hate to lose. So the game can feel like a continue button then.
Later on when the team's results improve I usually get p*ssed off when they don't perform as well as they should or I'm hoping for. I start to scream at the computer and need to calm down somewhere. Not good
Right now I'm in the gorgeous "team is doing well and I'm in my happy place" phase
Similar. If I can gut out a season or two, bring in my own players found by my scouts, etc. I start to become attached to the club. I get attached to players as well. I have a hard time letting go of players who've helped me move up through the leagues when they start to get old or reach a level where they aren't good enough anymore.
I don't really like to start new games: everything is new, for the first few months you do not feel the team is really yours and you have zillion things to do... It's much more comfortable when everything is in more or less in place.
For this reason, I find it very hard to leave a club - and I'm also likely to be emotionally attached to my players after a season or two.
To me, it depends on several things. From oppositions tactics ability to league rules and playing format. I really haven't enjoyed the save like I did my Mexico save since I believe FM06 Portupoof clan. However, after 16 seasons of same rules, I got fd up with it, so I retired and deleted the save. Now, gathering my energy to start anew.
Perstian. Please stop using foul language and avoiding the swear filter. There is an asserted effort to clamp down on it and I don't want to have to take any further action.
