Default The Martyrs

Long time follower of the LLM way, first time poster, go easy on me guys!

Loaded all divisions from England, Scotland, Italy, and Spain.

2007/08 - Cambridge City - Blue Square South
Started unemployed, holidaying until finally being given a job with Cambridge City in the BSS.
They were in a pretty desperate position, 10 games to go, rock bottom with a sorry looking squad. Anyway we had a go and I managed 12 points but it wasn't enough and we were eventually relegated with a game to go. Obviously a sacking followed and I began the search for my next club.

Blue Square South: Pos21st Pld42 W12 D7 L23 GD-19 Pts43.

EPL: Liverpool
FAC: Man Utd
LC: Liverpool

CL: Valencia
UEFA: Sporting CP

EURO 2008: Czech Republic.

2008/09 - Merthyr Tydfil - Blue Square South
I didn't have to wait long before the Martyrs took a chance on me, newly promoted with no players (other than a few youths). The board wanted me to enjoy participating in the division (not really sure what that means!), I was hoping to stay up in the division as attracting signings was proving difficult. We started badly and hovered around the relegation zone all season before a good run at the end of the season got us up to a respectable 8th.
One of the original youths proved the saviour with some crucial goals, and a league 2 standard pacey striker who joined on loan was another big player for us.

Blue Square South: Pos8th Pld42 W18 D11 L13 GD+11 Pts65
FA Cup: 2nd Qual. Round
Setanta Shield: S 1st Round
FA Trophy: 1st Round

EPL: Arsenal
FAC: Man Utd
LC: Liverpool

CL: FC Bayern
UEFA: Lazio

Transfers In: 12 for £0k
Transfers Out: 6 for £0k.

2009/10 - Merthyr Tydfil - Blue Square South
The board wanted a top half finish which worried me slightly but I went along with it. More loans brought in because of the non existent transfer fee, including the same pacey striker from last year. The result?
An almost identical season to the last one (yawn) saw us yet again struggle before going on an even better run towards the end of the season (well in the sense that we ended up with 1 more point!).

Blue Square South: Pos8th Pld42 W19 D9 L14 GD+7 Pts66
FA Cup: 4th Qual. Round
Setanta Shield: 4th Round
FA Trophy: 1st Round

EPL: Liverpool
FAC: Liverpool
LC: Man Utd

CL: Valencia
UEFA: Benfica

WC 2010: Argentina

Transfers In: 16 for £0k
Transfers Out: 11 for £15k.

2010/11 - Merthyr Tydfil - Blue Square South
The board again were after a top half finish and with the capture of the pacey striker on a free and a solid centre half I was confident going into a season for a change. Another good signing for the future had my mouth watering as my scout predicted he'd be a league 1 player one day, I decided to blood him in a few games this season and he didn't disappoint.
We were solid from start to finish, our defence had the best record in the league, unfortunately the attack didn't and we hovered around the playoff places all season. The highlight was the November MOTM award. A win in our last game guaranteed 4th spot.
An absolute horror show in the playoffs semi finals against Billericay saw us crash out 7 - 1 on aggregate, and saw me attack a pile of clothes close by in frustration.

Blue Square South: Pos4th Pld42 W20 D14 L8 GD+18 Pts74
FA Cup: 1st Round
Setanta Shield: S 2nd Round
FA Trophy: 3rd Qual. Round

EPL: Liverpool
FAC: Chelsea
LC: Birmingham

CL: Man Utd
UEFA: Lazio

Transfers In: 8 for £0k
Transfers Out: 3 for £60k.

I'll give promotion another shot but if it doesn't happen it may be time to move on...

That's exactly what I thought when I sw them mentioned.

Good progress so far Warbie, as for you destroying a pile of washing in frustration very :ghey: but funny anyway.

Warbie's a good user. He reads the forum header et al., he plays according to LLM Ethics, he posts an update, and he's greeted and welcomed like a long-lost brother.

However, no-one will notice this.

Next time a hole comes in and names players, gives tips and maims the good intentions of LLM and is told where to get off...that will be.

Then people wonder where the bad reputation comes from? No-one's welcome?

And they call us sad.

We've had a few promising new posters today to make up for the utter crap we've also seen, although that being said over the last few days I'm unsure who's new, old or new but so old they lost their previous identity.

I'm new. No, wait. I'm old. Hang on, "I'm not old, I'm [nearly] thirty-seven". Oh I don't know. One thing I do know is that Al probably has even less idea of who is who than you do, Alex
