Well it just about sqeezes through the gate as acceptable. However ('cos I really dont want to encourage you), it is irritating, and it makes me nervous, and i've got my beady eye on you.
The whole issue would (should) be complately irrelevant to us in LLM anyway if we didnt get exposed to contamination. Tactic merchants posting in here increases that risk. Even with good intentions (without good intentions it is a hanging offence), posting here about what the super tactics are is just plain ... well ... plain dozy at best. And it gets my gander up. However, if you lot stamp out the stuff your end, and we carry on in our blissful isolation, then we might one day rid ourselves completely of this terrible affliction. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Don't worry. I have no intention posting in here ever again (apart from this). I only saw the thread because I clicked on the wrong link in the main forum and thought it interesting that it had been allowed to stay open so had a shifty. I certainly have no intention of trying to force knowledge or contaminate anyone. If anything, I was trying to put a full stop at the end of this thread so the dirty T word stopped raising its ugly head.
I do find it interesting how misperceived (some) tacticians are by LLaMas. Many would go out of their way to avoid exploits and keep everything as realistic as possible. Our worlds are not as far apart as you might think.

My point was, if that kind of thing is your cup of tea, you probably won't hang around here long anyway. Correct the rookies nicely and let their second post determine their fate. It's a great rule for a reason!
wwfan, we're worlds apart in that you guys want to discuss tactics and their effects whereas we want to find out for ourselves, individually, what does what and what may make things easier.
I have no doubt you guys are striving for realism, but T&TT stuff wouldn't be welcome in here as a LLaMa coming into T&TT and spouting LLM Ethics wouldn't
Incidentally, you're as welcome to come in here as the next bloke

I recognise the difference and wouldn't dream of offering any tactical tips at all in this forum. Outside of the discussing tactics, I would still respectfully suggest most of the tacticians I have time for play in a manner very similar to the rest of your code. That we like to talk tactics doesn't mean we don't respect you and your methods (or at least the grown ups amongst us ). Just means we can't join you
Unfortunately, much as I appreciate your method of playing, I am too involved with other aspects of FM for joining you ever to be a possibility. Thank you for the kind invite though.
As mentioned above, this is what I like with some of the people from that doomed place of the interweb. There are reasonable people there it is possible to have a mature and social conversation with.
We don't play the game the same way, and never will. But that doesn't mean that either of our camps are barbaric savages.
Despite being all het-up I will try post in a cheesy grin through gritted teeth sort of way. ‘Cos I suspect not everyone understands the problem. Has the focus been on the detailed analysis of the grey, the guidelines and the ‘up to you’ stuff that we have lost sight of the bleedin’ obvious?
Contamination can be game spoiling for us. Obviously, we would never use the exploits, and that’s the effect of the knowledge ‘cos we purposely avoid doing that. At that point our game is tarnished slightly. I don’t think you need examples… I’d rather not. We want a pure a game as possible and a forum to boot. And I’m not open to suggestions on this at all. Sorry
wwfan, this ‘we are very much like you’ line has been used for decades now and it makes me want to use the roll eyes smiley. I can resist that urge. Tho you should realise that the line is only ever used in one direction. Anyways, I understood the original point you were making and there was a KUTGW! in there somewhere
I'm pretty sure there isn't a problem. I know more exploits and issues than most of the llamas put together given where I work. I also know quite a lot about computer programmers - doesn't make me want to be one. I don't get the urge to play in a different way because I know a bit about how the game is developed.
My point is - anyone who does get that urge, probably isn't going to enjoy their time here anyway - and most of the people who spend any significant amount of time here are smart enough to get through the day without worrying about this too much. I'd even wager that most of them know what a match engine is, or could work it out. Trying to ignore such stuff on the official forums of a well known videogame developer isn't a very realistic ambition, surely?
I'm not sure expecting everyone in the forum to be at of your level of zealotry (or is it zealousness?) is particularly realistic, if you'll pardon a llama pun. If you really want it to be a grass on the monitor experience - why would you even be discussing the game here?
P.s. to paraphrase ian, you're as welcome as the next man - just not sure you're the sole guardian of who discusses what, in here. If I'm still failing to understand be sure to straighten me out.
