Default Aston Villa (supposedly rich) - Start of the second season, transfer budget of £70k :-(

I have just started playing this game and my inaugral game saw me take the helm of my beloved Aston Villa.

The board expectations were for a respectable league position and to do this they would give me a transfer budget of £13.5m. Offloading Sorenson, Berger and Cahill gave me a revised budget of just over £17.5m and this was used on Milner for £12.75m (got involved in a bidding war with Chelsea!), Bojan for £2m and Rafinha for £2.7m.

I finished the league season in 2nd place on 77 points, four points behind Chelsea so securing Champions League football for my second season. At the end of the season I lost Scott Carson and Curtis Davies when their loan periods ended but I intended to buy Davies and purchase another keeper, until I was given my expectations and budget for the second season. The board wanted cup success and respectable league position and to acheive this my transfer budget would be £70k!!!

I have tried asking the board for more money and their response was that they had not seen a return on this seasons investment yet. Not bad considering I was only a week or so into the new season and still sat with my warchest of £70k!!!!

I have been left with Stuart "Rooted to the spot" Taylor as my number one and have managed to bring Fabianski from Arsenal in on a years loan as back up keeper. How I am going to challenge on four fronts I will never know!?!?!?!?!!?

I have also enabled the sugar daddy option after downloading another option file (couldn't wait to unlock it!) and my chairman has invested another £54m into the club but none of it appears to have made its way into my transfer kitty!

Anyone else had similar problems prising opening their chairmans wallet or is this a bug in the game?

If your really strapped for money, which you are. Go on your profile (at the top of the left menu) then go on preferences and turn sugar daddy off and click accept. Then turn it back on and click accept, you should get a message saying someone wants to invest in your club just say yes and you'll get lots of money.

It's kinda cheating but, desperate times and all that.

try it

Mate you are a legend. I now have a transfer budget of £32m!

Wouldn't class it as cheating when the game obviously thinks Doug Ellis is still in charge!!!!!

The reason is most likely that you were over wage budget (likely by more than a few £) - this causes them to restrict transfer budgets by quite a lot until you get things under control.

(but as Mr. Arsenal noted there are 'ways' around this if you really really need the money )

PS - I agree the game was a tad harsh in the circumstances ...
