Sorry if this has already been mentioned on the forums, but what is going on with pace/acceleration in 8.0.2? How can Martin Laursen outstrip Obafemi Martins without the ball over 30/40 yards? Seriously!!! Seems to happen all the time...
I suspect martins might be walking (i.e. being lazy) - pace is only a reflection of the top speed the player can achieve, if the players dribbling stat is low then he won't move as fast with the ball, similarly if the players work rate/determination is low then he won't give his all in every match.
Having just signed robinho, i can assure you, a quick player who can dribble will regularly destroy whichever defender he's up against.
NB: it could also be your tactics - if you have a low tempo/defensive mentality/him set to rare forward runs, then these could all contribute to your problem.

He might have been tired.
nah. i checked that. martins was at 92%, laursen at 90%.
it's just one example, but it seems to happen a lot. on the plus side for me, viduka moves a hell of a lot faster on 8.0.2 than he ever does in real life!!
he's just done the same thing again!!! beat owen to the ball too over long distance. surely just not possible in real life?! oh well...just a glitch i guess...
what you got to look at though is if laursen has head start on owens or martins then the attacking player is going to have to run round the outside of laursen and with laursen holding him off with more strength it could slow them down. just a thought
I've noticed the same thing here.
A newgen with 19/20 pace acceleration getting beaten to the ball by random defenders, even though he just came off the bench....

totally understand where you're coming from, and difficult to explain without live action/series of screen shots, but it was basically a ball breaking and the pair of them going for it at the same time, but laursen not only kept up with martins, he won the ball...
same with the owen example in the same game! when did laursen get new legs?!!
