To prevent myself from dying of uncontrollable laughter, I'll pretend that the use of "hu" and "finkin" was unintentional.

As for the topic - I rarely use it. Even when I develop a nickname for someone, it usually comes naturally so there's no need for me to change his name to it. Though, with some Hispanic names I could see a definite use for it.

I use it occasionally when dealing with south american/spanish players.

Ffor example if i have two Silva's in my youth team and one is going to progress to be a great prospect i would nickname him Silva*** so i know.

when i go along way with pretty much the same side i give them their first name as a nickname so its a bit more personal. if there are 2 with the same name they just keep the surname or se the middle name.

I use it to force Brazilians et al to go by two names until they've "earned the right" to go by one.

Also, sometimes I get bored of the games' most common surnames, so I use it to give my save-game-world a bit more variation.

I use it a LOT.

Usually to denote player values within the squad. (I.E - Joe Bloggs* / John Brown***)

Every now and then, a player will get a nickname due to something that has happened to them in the FM World.

(My Goals Scorer is now called Pele + No. of goals he's currently scored. (950, despite what my Location says ) - So Pele 950.

I dubbed one player "The Departed" after his 3rd spell at my club, and 7th club overall.

I had another kid who had a very difficult name to read, so I took a few letters from it and called him "Kviskvinho"

Also, if some players have really cool surnames, I'll just use the nickname feature to give them the surname as the name. (Tony Mulvenna became Mulvenna, and so on)

Some people go to a lot of trouble to blank out their real name when posting screenshots on here, when in fact they could just give themselves a nickname...

And obviously you can use it for players about to retire to find their regen (cough)
