I want to link an existing club in a lower division with a top division club, since that has happened in real life also.

How do I make that club a reserve team? Also the top club doesnt have a reserve team currently.

You can't 'link' them, feeder club-esque, I'm afraid.

actually you can! I just tested it using a liverpool reserves.... put them in prem instead of man u lol.

How to do it... very simple

Goto the club in the official editor that you want to make a B team. Then edit in the menu, & add team. Then choose what the extention should be eg. B or reserves etc.

I chose reserves for liverpool as that was what it was called before. I dont know what would happen if I called it B team. So there you go, it is possible.

This gave me an idea, turn conference south and north into B team leagues....

i did that i made my notts county reserve team a conference north team but i couldnt have any say in the runnng of the squad on matchday i just had to watch the assistant manager to balls it all up
has anyoine else managed to do this succesfully so you can control both the first and reserve squads in a competetive league?

have you tried pressing "control team" in the team options for the reserve team?

i have the same problem...

i can't control the reserve team, and i have selected "control team"...

what's wrong?

Doesnt look like you can control it, just like you cannot control the spannish B teams... it is something that needs to be fixed for fm 2006 me thinks.
