The global ban applies to a player dependent on their unique ID, so you can create a copy of Rio Ferdinand (same name, stats, etc.) and put him in Man Utd, then delete the original) - the 'cloned' Rio won't have a ban.
To apply a global ban, you need to make an EDT file (see advice at the top of this forum on how to do this) - the entry should be similar to "BAN" "GLOBAL" "Fabien" "" "Barthez" "Marseille" "31-12-2004"
is that for sure then fedgin? bans like rio ferdinand which are pre-programmed into the game use the player's id rather than the name? cos i'm planning to create a new rio to get rid of the ban but i want to be sure it'll work before i do it!

it does work, i cloned rio ferdinand to get rid of his global ban and it works fine
Yeah, any player who has a ban that you want to remove, create a copy of them in the editor (arduous, depending on if you want to include history), move them to the club and delete the original. The game then doesn't find the original player to the ban and the 'copy' starts as normal, with no ban.
