At one point everyone needs another challenge. If it is by (un)maksing player attributes, using real/fake players, play a LLaMa game, or use one of the numerous updates that are on the internet for APACHE-games (all players active contracts have expired), Euro Leagues or Legend Updates.
Problem is that the last 3 (APACHE, Euro and Legend) are not avaiable in FM2005 at start. We have to create this on our own.
For some people, making edt's, ddt's, and xml's is just a piece of cake. Deleting or changing the LNC files and playing with the editor is just daily business. Still for a lot of people it isn't. Most times I can find my way when using such files and the editor. But it could be easier and faster.
In the "Am I wasting my time?"-thread (by Falkirk) (http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...2/m/9442099541) I came up with the idea to use a Fifa-alike format. You just choose what style of competition and cup you would like to play, then choose a lot of clubs, make the game, and your finished and able to play the way you want.
This isn't realistic FM offcourse. As are a lot of updates around.
Basicly, what I am saying is: could there be some (more) pre-set game modes to choose from? And can we in time be able to make our own pre-sets?
This can make the game more diverse.
NOTE: This doesn't take away the need of ddt/edt (or other) files, or the editor. For normal updates, team swaps, etc, those are still needed. And for someone who has all the knowledge about editing it will give more freedom ofcourse.
*** Only the FM League Creator idea is my own, based on the numerous updates and playing styles allready here ***
*** All other described options are FM/SI/Sega, or ideas/terms introduced by the great users of the FM community ***
There not much i can say about the editing aspect, but i'd like to add that people would love to use this option to make their own leagues that are yet not playable. For example i'd love to create the Estonian league that would work properly, and i know that people from the Estonian FM community yearn for their home league.
Unfortunately there are not many who are experienced enough to edit leagues via the editor (or the .edt, .ddt commands) so that it would work properly.

It is not as hard as it sounds. Maybe if more people tried thereselves then we would progress.
At the end of the day, the worst you can do is corrupt your Data, as long as you make a backup ( right click on the C:sportsinteractive/footballmanager2005/data/db folder, copy, paste into my docs or something safe, takes 10 seconds.)
If you do the above then you cannot break anything, because if you do it will get fixed, by pasting the backup folder back to the data/db location, you undo all changes.
So, backup, open the editor and try it!! 4 years ago I didn't even know Champ/football manager had an editor. After adding myself and scoring 60 goals one season, I have never looked back. If you check this forum, you will see the FM legends updates. I created these in my spare time, to add something different to FM.
If you feel that much about it, which it sounds like you do then do something about it!!!
The more editors we have, the more updates/untilities/knowledge we all have.
I think this is a cracking idea, it would eliminate hours of fiddling with the editor and make Super leagues much easier to make and much less prone to crashing.
Imagine being able to determine the amount of leagues in your Super League, the amount of teams in each league, the amount of teams promoted/relegated from each league, the amount of cups and which leagues play in them, amount of non EU players allowed, etc.
If SI could do this it would completely destroy all the opposition (even more than it allready does) and make it a lot more appealing to fans who like to "fiddle" with things.
Thing is that if things can be made easier, it would be nice to have such a feature.
I have done my deal of editing myself. It is not that hard and indeed, when you have a backup, it cannot do any real harm to your game. I made my team up to date, I changed all competition names to reflect reality, etc. Editing is fun if you know how to do it.
Still, again, this feature could be a nice step between playing FM normal, and playing FM the way you like it.
I don't even really know if such things are possible to achieve and people will always want more options. The community made their own editors, maybe someone can create a working thing like this.
This would be the ultimate feature for me. When I made my Euro-League, I was limited to the amount of things I could do. The Italian League had too many teams, some leagues had foreigner rules, not enough matches, subs, cups were bad, etc.
What if I could put an MLS style draft in a league, or force an entire league to have only French players? The options are endless.
I'm afraid that it may be quite difficult to pull off with a game of this scope, however.
It's really easy to say 'oh look I want this editor' but unless you have the commitment to do it yourself and get your hands dirty there's not much point. All you've done is set up a thread saying you want one.
As it is, the pregame structure is still undetermined as SI have yet to release the headers and until we know what they are, this won't work.
So for now, you need to forget about features and think about feasability. Also you'll need a programmer!
