in the DB folder, you should place the folder containing the databases in there... not a zip/rar file

So there's no need to extract it once it's in there then? Do you use it? If so what download link do you use?

Yes, you do need to extract it, hence the 'not a zip/rar file'

You want it so you have:

C:/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/db/DATABASE NAME/

with all the .dat files in there.

I haven't used, and don't know exactly which free database you mean - I'm just talking generally about downloaded databases
