I need help with Liverpool FC thread, the 2nd thread
OK, I think I have gotten the idea as to where my team has gone wrong. Our pass completition against VERY weak teams is rarely above 70%. Even Xabi Alonso who has the passing and creativity skill 20 can't put together over 80% passes...
I have a hunch that if I slow down the play, I'll have more passes, which will lead to more direct key passes->more goals. I tried slowing just the tempo down, but I'm not sure as to how will narrowing down and playing defensivly help with this.
I don't want to risk playing normal mentality as I belive that sounds like a way to defend, and I want goals.
So far I've been playing fast with high creative freedom, wide, attacking, hard tackling and the d-line just a little over the middle of the bar.
Tnx in advance for your help

I've usually employed quick tempo (first notch) short (3) passing with Liverpool (Gerrard/Alonso in the middle set to mixed, dead centre) and expect to achieve 75%-80% pass completion, against pretty much anyone.
I think playing narrower probably helps - varies between first notch 'narrow' and dead centre. I also use focus passing through middle (doesn't restrict wide players too much anyway).
If Alonso is getting less than 75% pass completion, that suggests perhaps too high a tempo (ie almost maxed), or that your attacking settings are forcing him to look for killer balls with a lack of movement ahead of him.
Who are the strikers? Wide midfielders on forward runs? Fullbacks getting forward? Gerrard or Sissoko in the middle? Just how attacking/free etc on slider positions?
