The corner routine is working well, often winning games with one goal scored from corner.
| Can you elaborate - I get the odd goal from a corner, but not many. (Playing as liverpool also).

hi Faeron,
Great post. I've been using some of your ideas playing Seville FC. It started working well, beat both Madrid and Barcelona by 0-1 in their stadiums. But you're right it needed some fine tuning. I started flagging when coming agaisnt seemingly weaker sides or when being a goal down. I've been trying to devise a more attacking formation (4-1-2-1-2)and tactic (since your's is rather cautious) based on wfan discussion thread, but it's still early to reach any firm conclusions. I'll love to hear more about your attempts to devise the more attacking tactic.

Sorry for the late answers. Have been busy playing the game . Haven`t reached further than march 2007. Used some time to test out training and make the offensive tactic.
medinajj: The offensive tactic is still a 4141, but the wingers have farrows all the way up. Didn`t change a lot of instructions from the cautious version, just added more risk by giving more forward runs and heighten the mentality slightly.
The two tactics works well in conjunction with eachother, with eight league games L`pool are currently six points ahead of Chelsea at top of the table. Conceded the least of all teams in the league. This type of tactic/style of play suits the CL very well. Didn`t concede during the group stage. The tactics combined produces a decent amount of goals, with a 6-0 and 5-0 being the biggest league win.
Will post in tomorrow with details about both versions of the tactic. Will also elaborate on the set pieces instructions aswell. Have scored quite a few this way. The most goals scored from set-pieces during a match is three times.
This is by no means a super/killer tactic, but a very effective way for your team to play. Suits both good team and lesser skillfull teams.

The 4141 formation/tactic worked well enough, won the PL four matches before it was finished. Scored the most, conceded fewest of the teams in the Premiership.
Still I wasn`t feeling too confident that it was the right formation. Sometimes the margins were very small, a lot of the success I felt had to do with team-talks and hitting a good winning streak.
All the principles mentioned above was used to recreate the tactic. One offensive version and one defensive version. With some tweaks to maximize performance.
I ended up with a 42121 formation. 4 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders, 1 central midfielder(farrow to AMC), 2 wingers(AML/AMR with farrows) and one striker.
For the defensive version there is no farrows and the wingers are positioned as ML and MR.
The tactic and the training program can be downloaded from the FMDownloads.net. They are in the 2007folder under tactics and training.
The tactics are called XO_42121_Attack and XO_42121_Defend. The training schedules are called XO_Training_Heavy.
It might be worth the try.
