It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Great tactic - poor defence!! - Help???

Ok im doing very well I think as Man Utd (as you would expect) im in my second season after finishing 5th with no silverware in the first, the board have given me another chance. I think what threw the first season might have been the amount of signings I made which could have unbalanced the team (although most of these are out at feeders and still are this season) and my tweaking of the tactics to get the right balance for the players I had and the way I wanted to play.

However, after many tweaks etc I now have a tactic which suits my game perfectly (if it were not for injuries) but as much as im scoring for fun and ripping the oppositions defence to pieces, I can’t seem to keep it tight at the back. Recently won 4-3 vs. Everton with stupid goals being conceded, similarly I struggled to hold onto a win against Luton winning 4-2 (I got a 94th minute pen)

So..... Whilst I promised myself I would always try developing my own tactics myself I concede that I need help with the defence. So this is where you guys come in to help me make my tactic great

This is the league table, as you can see not the best defence around!!

I play 4-1-3-1-1 as per the picture below:
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/3...rmationem6.jpg

The team instruction for most of the games, slight tweaks depending on whom im playing:

My left/right backs play to these instructions:

And my centre backs play to these instructions:

I hope that’s enough information for you to analyse my tactics and tell me where im going wrong. As I said I don’t have a problem attacking, and seem to be able to get in and rip defences to pieces!! So any help or advice you can offer would be gratefully received It might just be for the fact I sold Rio for £47m to Chekski though....

Adam.

Team instructions:
Up your closing down a few notches on your team instructions. Time wasting down to normal or lower. Defensive line up a few notches(hey, you r Manure, C`mon). Set passing style to normal, then adjust your players individually to the passing style that suits them best. It is usually longer/direct passes for the back four, then gradually shorter passes as you move your way up the positions.

Left/right backs:
Mentality way down, to normal or preferrably lower. Closing down: experiment with different pressure, a little higher than team works for, then again, it might not work for you. If you want to be really careful, set mentality to defending. Drop the forward runs and run with ball to normal, let the player decide for himself instead.

Centre backs:
Creative freedom down a few notches, passing style direct to long, closing down normal or lower, experiment what works best for you.

Good luck!
