Please help with my lack of possession!!....

I'm currently on my third attempt with Leeds.

First attempt - sacked while eighth but climbing... bug perhaps?? Board think the position is not good enough but my W-D-L would have me top without the 15pt deduction.

Second attempt - sacked while seventh in Champ during season two with about four games left and the new owner brought in Paul Jewell.

Third attempt - currently at game 17 and sixth in Lge1.... without the deduction I would be second.

ANYWAY - getting to the point!...

I play either 4-1-3-2 or 4-3-1-2 fast and direct with counter attack, with a few individual settings on players.

Can somebody please tell me how I can get my team to keep hold of the ball!?!??! Even home games against L2 opposition in JPT or LC or FA Cup I sometimes have less than 40%.

I've tried slow and short passing..... this does not work.

I know I'm winning at the moment, but it's really frustrating as I'm not dictating games...

Short passing and a slower tempo should give you more possession. If this appears not to work, make sure you're not having individual players cost you possession.

(1) have your defenders play a short passing game, not direct or long passing

(2) ensure your players don't run with ball too often unless their dribbling stat is high

(3) keep your shape by having creative freedom set to a low value

(4) keep your shape by having your back 4 close down only At Own Area.

For suggestions (3) and (4) the point is that it should reduce passes going astray because players will know where the others are.

(5) Play the same 11 for as many consecutive games as possible. The Assistant manager has some info on how well the team has gelled, and playing the same 11 will help you with that.

(6) Play a narrower game, which will mean passes to your outside players will get intercepted less often.

Can't think of anything else...

I found putting all center midfielders on Hold Ball works well for me. That way the defenders can come up and the attackers get into position.
