If you want an internaitional job at the start of the game, usually if you put you nationality the same as the country you want to manage, then click new user and make them retire you can apply to the nation on your manager with your club on it, ive done it before when i felt like managing the england squad and a reading squad

im pretty sure this will only happen if when u start a game it says "(Managers name) is enjoying a growing reputation in football" rather than "the fans are angered at there club hiring a manager that has not much manager experience" that message came up for me once and i couldnt get the international squads.

Just completed my qualifying group for the World Cup 2010, with a 100% record.



Now ranked no. 1 in the world.

Alan Smith refused a call=up and I have told him he will never play for me again. Bit of a surprise has he is currently rotting away in Milan's reserves' so I thought he would be happy to get a game.
After the World Cup gonna try my hand at managing a South American national team. First experience for me.
