I conducted a little experiment with Tranmere to assess the board confidence factor in the game, I made the players at the club better (not premiership level but to championship level) but kept the club reputation/chairman ambition low
In my first season I was given the task of achieving a respectable league position in the division, after 20 games I was top of the divison and the board was only satisfied!, they cited my 2-0 away defeat to Aston Villa in the league cup as a low which is crazy
Anyway I got promoted and was asked to achieve a respectable position in the championship after two years, the media have predicted me to finish 16, I am currently 10th after 25 games and the board are less than satisfied! citing a 3-0 defeat to Wolves
this really needs to be looked at because it makes the game unplayable for me as Tranmere manager, I know this was an edited version but I was seeing if the patch altered the confidence as I had a previous game which i was sacked for finishing 9th in the Championship
The problem you have here is that your test is unreliable: you have good, improved players but have left expectations the same. If you had better players IRL, your expectations would be higher, as would your reputation.
There are some issues in the Confidence module, however, they don't affect everyone in the same way, even if they play as the same team.
It is a well known fact that the confidence factor is a mess. Nice to see some actual proof though. Hopefully, as the cahances of another patch are slim to none, '09 will fix it.
yeah i appreciate that but my point was the board had given me a set goal, which I am more than achieving and they are less than satisfied, this makes it very difficult to have a long term game
i had this happen before in a non edited version (the only reason i edited it was so that i got promoted)
