Okay, in my boredom tonight I conducted a little tactic test using some of those tactics being touted about the forum as being rather good. It should be noted however that my test was highly unscientific and I have selected the ones to test pretty randomly. If anyone wants to conduct the same test with other tactics here, please do so and save me the bother and post the results (i probably won't get a chance to do any more until next week).
The test followed in the footsteps of a previous comparion for tactics in fm2006 - I selected Man City given that they are pretty middle of the road (allegedly). As I don't have a 'supercomputer' I just selected the tactic and put the game on holiday with 'use current tactic' selected until 1st January. I first tested the default 4-4-2 with no changes as a benchmark. The results were (not in order):
Pos Pl W D L F A Pts
4-4-2 Default 12th 19 7 4 8 23 25 25
Minimal_Fuss 07v1 8th 21 8 5 8 27 24 29
M&M 4-4-2 13th 21 4 10 7 20 24 22
Tottenham v1.05 12th 21 6 6 9 22 28 24
Arse 17th 21 4 9 8 19 26 21
Deyonkey 4-5-1v4 12th 21 6 8 7 22 23 26
West Ham v2 10th 21 7 6 8 23 24 27
Obviously these tactics are almost certainally better with certain teams or situations. The fact that there isn't much to choose between them and the results are pretty mediocre would seem to support this view. Anyway, hardly groundshaking results, but just thought I'd share my hotchpotch attempt at research on the off-chance anyone else is interested.
