After winning the EPL and Champions League with Chelsea, i faced READING in the community shield for my 2nd season.

I had a total of 24 shots on target, as well as getting about 5 absoltely shocking misses.

I absolutely totaly outplayed them.

I ended up scoring 4 goals. Here is the story

Scored fairly early and was all over them like a rash, but couldnt score again. Half time i give encouragement to my players.

We go out and were smashing them again, score a 2nd goal, then a 3rd.

With 20 minutes left to go. im 3-0 up.

Leroy Lita scores from 40 yards out, im not kidding, the ball gets knocked forward and he volleys it from 40 out into the goal.
Leroy Lita scores a 2nd, from a throw in, he dribbles 5 ft while my defenders stand and watch, the then long shots it into the goals again.

Leroy Lita scores a third, once again he gets the ball and smashes it from outside the box, with my DMC and my MC both on him, and my DC about 3 ft away.

its now 3-3.

David Villa my new striker gets the ball and scores with his 7th shot on target.

its now 4-3

The ball gets booted upfield, one of the Reading players gets the ball and dribbles at 1ft per second, about 30 meters with my DC's and Midfielers all standing 1ft away but refusing the tackle, he them randomly shoots and scores.

Then as the final icing on the cake, Leroy Lita gets the ball, and from nothing scores again.

it ends 4-5 with Reading winning, they had maybe 6 shots on goal, i had 30+ efforts, with tons of them ongoal missed absotely sitters. Not one of there efforts on goal was as open or good as mine,

yet they could score by volleying from 40m out and from kicking from throw ins.

haha that sucks aleena, but yeah i agree you can have over 20 shots a game while the AI can have about have yet still win the game, needs to be sorted on the patch me thinks

i agree with you & all above on current flaws in fm8....BUT lets wait for patch & hope SI aint taking the micky etc. after playing 2 seasons (flaws & all) ive noted a fun factor coming back & losing aint so bad compared to fm7 where murder wasnt far from ones mind!!.

I agree with most of the complaints in this thread.

The only solution I can find is that SI reduce the number of chances per game and fix the closing down bug, so then we cant complain.

Referring to the AI frequently doing over the user lol:

I've been playing as Wigan in my first proper FM08 game. Expected to finish bottom I thought it would be ok to escape the drop. At the time, 19th in the league with only 2 wins, my team are facing Arsenal at the JJB. We took an early lead through Heskey after 2 mins, then in the 87th minute, they score from a corner I think, so 1-1. Straight away from the next kickoff, we gave the ball away, and Adebayor runs a few yards down the field and smashes it in from 25 yards. It really peed me off because I was heading for a point against one of the best teams and I'm sure I got robbed.

I know it happens in real football but Arsenal had many chances throughout the whole game and didn't score so why in the 87th and 88th mins?

I'm with you there. Have an (expensively bought) strikeforce of Pandev and Robinho for AC Milan, backed up by no less than two out of: Kaka, Pirlo, Nasri and Rosina. The chances are plenty, but out of (typically) 18 to 20 shots, 10 will be on target, all but one or two of which will be saved by the keeper.

Then, of course, the opposition team gets 3 or 4 shots, and may score two or three.

It was something that was in FM07 that is simply much worse now. When I get really annoyed, because I've dominated and I concede a 94rth minute equaliser with the opposition's one shot of the game, I just restart. Which is most annoying.

I´ll take the closing down bug over this extremly annoying bug anyday. Seeing Rocchi and Huntelaar missing open goals and one on one with the keeper all the time really makes me wanna cry.

I sure hope SI is planing to do something about this.

lazio, I'm confused. The closing down bug- does that occur within the "shipped" version of the game or the "patched" version?

Because I haven't patched yet, and my complaint about the number of chances converted is in relation to the shipped version.
