Sorry - that's not very insightful is it?
It seems that every mentor partnership I assign gets the message "Isn't sure what he'll learn" or something equally pessimistic.
Immediately I know this is a wasted venture, but I can't cancel it until they've gone through months of misery.
I do check similar attribute patterns (although with youngsters this shouldn't really be inportant as you are trying to groom them), personalities and favoured personnel - but it hasn't ever helped me.
Imho there needs to be a better way of predicting who is suited to tutor who, and to get regular progress updates, and the ability to cancel ill-fated relationships.
