It might seem an odd thing to pick on but I personally find the current vague reputation system to be irritating.
When I look at my manager profile, and see my reputation as local what does this mean? Is a generic way of ranking my reputation and the effects it has or does it have scale? If it was based upon the area you were in there could be a steady slow rise of reputation which would please the folks who complain that reputation rises too slowly
e.g. If I am in a team based in the north of the country, as regional or local am I more likely to have success joining a team or buying a player in the general area in which I'm based? Or is it irrelevant?
More detail about reputation would be helpful also, What kind of manager are they Are they good at taking lower teams to new heights? Awaking sleeping giants? A wheeler dealer in the market?
Introducing more detail, and scaled reputation would provide a more rounded way of how the AI hires managers and make it more clear to the player why they can't persuade that striker from down the country to join the club or why they got turned down for yet another job despite seeming to perform well.
Very good idea. I like the idea of the personal aspects of the manager being built on, along with relationships with Board (confidence etc) and reputation etc, so you can see more clearly where your achievements are getting you.
I'd just like league reputation to increase. I was Cwmbran in the Welsh league for about 10 seasons, I walked the league and cups domestically and regularly got to the group stages of the champions league, but because the welsh league reputation is low and doesn't change, I couldn't attract the calibre of players to do anything in europe. You would have thought that a welsh team that gets a lot of european coverage would improve the welsh league, even if only slightly.
anyway, back to the original post, I think this would add to the realism of the game if it was detailled a bit more.
I agree too to a certain extent, especially about some of the manager traits. I don't like having labels thrust on me that I can't do anything about - e.g. Defensive coaching style or whatever else gets automatically assigned to your profile.
I noticed for a while last season my manager profile said I was a "Popular Manager", but it didn't seem to manifest itself in anyway on the game
