Are there still way too many goals and shots in FM08? I haven't played the game for a while now because I became so disillusioned with the lack of realism in this edition of FM...just way too many goals.

FM has always been claimed as the most realistic management sim on the market so why are Sunday league scores the norm?

I can't remember the last time I saw a 0-0 in FM08. I saw plenty of 5-4s and 4-3s etc etc. Furthermore I'd always consoled myself by looking at other leagues and seeing that the number of goals was reasonable there. That ended when I turned on full detail for those leagues and up shot the numbers of goals, so this is obviously linked to detail level.

This is not the standard of game I have come to expect from FM since I first picked it up in the late 90s, but I would love nothing more than someone to say the situation has been bettered by the latest patch so I can get back to enjoying a game I have many great memories of.

Can SI really be happy with the issues that I have seen common? I don't believe they can be, so I would expect the issue to be top of the pile of somethings to correct it?

Surely I can't be the only one that feels this way. Many of you may say it's a small issue and makes little difference to the game, but it does to me. It negates my enjoyment because I value the realism that FM has always had for me in the past.

Yes there is still way too many goals. Seems like from corners to front post it goes in way too often. 5-4 & 4-3 are too common result with this 802 patch. Hopefully they fix this soon.

ive had no problems with 8.0.2 patch but i did restart a new game so maybe people who carry on with saved games still have odd problems but restart game and no probs

just take a look at other threads. there are some new issuses like corner bug, but I think match engine's improved greatly, there are fewer chances but I can't realy comment on scorelines becouse I use my own database, with reduced CA and atributes (mostly scoring ones) to reduce number of goals

I have played about 11 games so far, no major goal sprees yet apart from a 5-0 demolition of Birmingham. Had a few 1-0s and 1-1s.

In fact, when I started I couldnt score a goal for love nor money! But after experimenting with some tactics and formations, begain scoring some goals. But not freakish amounts by any means.

I'm 12 games into the Bundesliga season and have conceded 3 and scored 18. Haven't noticed a high scoring result as yet and the corners bug is easily avoided by setting your player away from "mark keeper" and "near post".

For those seeing scores like 5-4 or 4-3, look at your tactics and make sure they are not ultra attacking. More attack = more goals scored = less defense = more goals conceded.

I also noticed ridiculous scores when using my 8.0.1 tactic. As soon as I adjusted the mentality to be more balanced, the scores have been very realistic.

Corners are still broken. My 3 DCs all scored over 10 goals in my season. Of course, this can be fixed by not using the AI exploits. But when you really want to win...it's hard not to =(
