Default memory or processor?

I have 1GB memory and 2,8 ghz P4 processor. When I play the game menues are not smoot like I wish. So what is the best option to make my playing more smooth. Buy more memory or new processor?

Both. RAM will help, but a Dual 2 Core is the dog's footballs.

An 'epic' game of FM will use 600-1gb of ram constantly.

You will also need a dual core (ideally Intel) or Quad core to process full detail results.

That said: unless you have 5-10 leagues on full detail you won't get the benefit as the engine won't scale up on non full-detail matches.

I am suprised by the number of folk coming on here and asking about systems and requirements. Isn't that information printed clearly on the box?

Do you know what motherboard you have?

If I can know that I can see what upgrade options you really have, if yuo want to upgrade the processor to a modern dual/quad core you're probably gonna have to get a new board.

Whats the budget on the upgrade?

I'm playing on a laptop with 512mb ram and a 2.8ghz P4 processor, and its fine on menus and loading times. Some stuttering during matches when I have made tactical changes, but thats a common thing apparently. This is with 4 countries (England, Spain, Italy and Germany) running off a medium database.

Reason I say this is that maybe you dont need to spend big on ram or a processor. Have you tried other skins, or do you have lots of ingame graphics as I had them on FM2007 and it slowed menus down a lot? Or other programs operating?

RAM. it also good idea to switch off background applications (antivirus, etc) if you have a older pc/laptop. i also use programs such as ccleaner to keep my laptop free of all junk that slows down the system

You can get a good quality kit of 2 gig ddr2 ram for £35. Ram is cheap as chips atm.

Ram is the cheapest, if you want dual core you'll have to get a new motherboard and some other other things.

I upgraded to 1Gig and it goes really well now so i've a quick question if i go to 2gig will it make even more of a difference. IE is it worth the £40 to make it go even quicker or will it not show up much
