Something I don't understand and don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning but just want to understand the history and complexity of writing the game.
Having previously played earlier versions of the game on and off, going back to Championship Manager days, I decided to buy the new version of the game. This time I've got more seriously in to the game and have been visiting the forums, something I've never done previously.
What I don't understand is how, after many years of developing the game, there are still problems in the game which, after reading on the forum people are obviosly having?
For example, how does the corner routine problem come in to the game when previosly it was ok? What got tweaked to cause this to happen? After so many years of development, surely the game should be stable now?
I suppose with so many people seriously in to the game and looking at it in great depth, things that might not have ever been noticed have been and get published.
Anyway, I love the game but I'm a bit disapointed after uploading the new patch and after not scring all season, my DMC scores a hat trick from corners!

the fact that near post flick ons never worked in 8.0.1 caused the change into corners but ive yet to notice much of a change
The day the match engine becomes stable is the day that the SI guys look at it and say 'Now that's real football'.
This won't happen until technology reaches the point where player behaviour can be simulated.
The problem with this is as technology evolves towards that end, the more complex the match engine can become but at the same time the more potential there is for bugs.
Basically increasing realism requires increasing code complexity which requires more interdependent calculations which leads to more potential for unexpected behaviour and more difficulty in identifying the interactions that cause that unexpected behaviour in the first place.
That's my take on it as a player of the game with no real knowledge of software development i.e. I'm talking through my arse

I think I scored one goal in the previous version from a near post flick on but was still scoring a few goals from corners. I didn't really see any problem with it. I'm still using the same corner routine that I used before and now seeing a hat trick from corners in a game from a player who hadn't previously scored!
Like you said, it must be very difficult but I hope that they get it spot on one day soon
