i accidently deleted the edt file from db folder after the game was created but i quickly put it back in will it affect the game at all?

Once it has started, I dont think the game will be affected.

I should have thought it would stop working pretty much straight away. i had an edt file i made, removed, and never replaced, and the game stillruns ok. (checked it out for you).

both lnc's and edt's only become effective when you start, so your existing games will run fine as you want. But then if you start a new game, the changes the files made obviously won't happen... unless you replace them.
