It looks like the registry settings keeps the EDT file even after you delete it. If you're confident doing this, open REGEDIT and search for the name of your EDT file. You should find it's still in the FM2005 folder according to the registry settings - just delete it. As ever, backup the registry before doing this.

Right I had a little play this morning, all I did was delete the file from the db folder, right click the mouse and press delete, and it was gone. I then put it back in, and instead of deleting completely I just moved it somewhere else, loaded the game and because it was in the wrong folder it didnt load. I then put it back in and unticked it on the preference screen, and it didnt load. I then loaded it with it in.
Times on load taken, loading 9 leagues with 3 countries, medium database just for test purposes.
Load times of starting a game:
DDT File removed from computer: 7mins 57seconds
DDT File moved somewhere else out of proper folder: 7mins 57seconds
DDT File in Db folder but unticked on preferences screen: 7min 57seconds
DDT File used: 9mins 37seconds.
How you had so many problems removing this baffles me, also all the other problems you have had sound more like either altering your database, corrupt database or a EDT file in use. This file only comes in to use or works if you choose to use it, it doesnt affect save games or your database, it doesnt get in your registry, it is a wordpad file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont take my world for it ask the guys at SI games. To be honest ive become fed up with trying to help people only to get stick because a few guys have no idea what they are doing and blame the file ive created, with two guys and emails full of abuse they didnt have the decentcy to say sorry when it turned out the slowdown was down to a faulty superpack they had installed, the other one was a damaged database after they had changed so many details and added players and teams of there own!
