It doesn't matter if it's in the same folder or not. When both the game and MCFM is active, then MCFM should be able to recognise it's there.

Common issues are as follows:

1. Pirated copy of game (either downloaded or CDR). Mind Compression offer no support to thieves. Don't expect any help if you have a pirated copy.

2. Cracked (generally a no-cd crack) in place. Again, cracks are not supported and we do not help thieves who have done this.

3. Not having the game open (and loaded) when MCFM is started.

4. The flux capacitor in the Delorian (a problem that we've never been able to fix).

5. The computer being switched off when the person attempts to run the game.

6. An old version of FM 2005 (5.0.5 required - Recommended install order should be 5.0.2 and then 5.0.5 (you should include the official data update in your patch version)).

7. An old version of MCFM installed (0.5.0 is the latest available from a number of good sites (and possibly some sh*t ones too! )).

8. Editing the database (using a pregame editor) for the game which you are running.

9. Using the FM Modifier (although it's not official, we have had a couple of people tell us that they used FM Modifier and MCFM did not work correctly afterwards. I cannot say for definate though so please don't take this as a reason not to use FM Modifier (it's just a possibility, that's all)).

10. Not being logged into the administrative account when you:

a) Install the game.

i> You should install the game in an [b]admin[b/] account.

b) Run the game from a different account from which you installed the game.

ii> Run the game in the SAME [b]admin[b/] account from which you installed the game (some problems if I remember with registry settings).

Check ALL of these options and I stress issue 6 when I say this. If you installed 5.0.3 or any other patch besides 5.0.2 or 5.0.5 then I recommend that you uninstall it and re-install the FULL patch versions including the official data update. Try not to include any superpacks or third party add-ons and try the game

Just to clarify about the crack and stealing here's an example I've been asked to mention...

Your best mate Johnny goes away on holiday for a couple of weeks and he lends you his copy of Football Manager 2005 which he bought from Game with his crimbo money (it happens). You love the game loads and find yourself becoming addicted to it (this is normal). Before you know it, Johnny's back from his holiday and he wants his game back. Although you'd rather kill him and keep the game all to yourself Golum, common sense takes over and you simply slap him round the head for getting you addicted to the game...

What happens now??? You can't run the game without the CD and you mum and dad won't give you the money to go down the shops and buy it. So what do you do??? You're stuck without your fix of pin-sized objects moving around the screen hitting a small white object. At that exact moment, a friend comes onto MSN. Let's call him Mr. Dave R... No... Lets call him Mr... D Rogers... He tells you that he too has an addiction. He's a bit tech savvy and tell you to get a crack. You explain to him that you're not after cocaine, he laughs and tells you that cracks are files which remove the need for a CD in your game.

Your eyes glow and you begin to rub your fingers with glee. You dream of the possibilies that lay ahead. A life of theft, addiction to a great game, and no life. But then you remember about your mate Jamie who got a letter through the post telling his parents to pay the courts money because he was downloading music and movies off the Internet. Now he has no life, no PC and no money... He sits in his room all day staring at the wall, shaking uncontrollably whilst mumbling incohrently about the board not giving you enough money to buy new talent.

'Naa.. It can't happen to me. I'll be careful' You think to yourself.

[b]But it can happen to you![b/]

Finally common sense prevails (and the fact that your mum found your stash of Asian porn buried deep under 18 directories of weird folder names) and you decide to leave it until you can afford to buy it with your own pocket money.

Sure you won't be able to play the game, and you'll probably have to go to little Johnny's house to watch him play until you can afford it but it'll save the misery and anguish of having a letter come through the door asking for money you don't have!

[b]Remember piracy is theft.[b/]

All official. I have WSM 5.0.5 (as its called now) and your latest editor update 0.5.0.
Thanks for any help you can give me, i have used your editor before on previous patches and updates and its easily the best one.
I should tell you that i had to re-install windows as it was corrupted. Since then i have re-installed the game and then downloaded all the latest updates, but now i get this message that the game isnt compatable.
