Started out with Juventus playing my 3-2-2-2-1 formation from FM06 and worked a dream for the first two seasons. Got promoted in my first season only losing 2 games and getting beat in the italian cup final by Inter. 2nd season with a couple of good signings finished 3rd which I was happy with considering the spending power of Inter and Milan whom had signed a serious amount of top players between them and Juventus being financially insecure I couldn't bring in a lot of top players to compete with them so 3rd I thought was a good finsih to build on.

Now my problem beings!!!! 3rd seasns starts only made 2 signings - de Guzman and Kompany and did my pre season training and friendlys as usual and then it happens!! I'm still creating the same amount of chances as before but EVERY EVERY time someone has a shot it's stright at the keeper, the keeper makes what seems like a wonder save or the ball just skims the bar from 2 feets away!!! WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED! I accept the AI can catch up on you and counter your formation! I was ready for that! I had tweaked tactics in FM06 that usually solved th problem. This is stupid though! The game is cheating me because my tatics are working. What am I supposed to do? You sign players to play a certain formation and then you're expected to completley change them when the game decides it's going to cheat you. I would appect the problem if the AI tactically out classed with but the opposing team gets to chances both of the half chances at that and sticks away. This is happening every game except europe where everything is working fine but this is probably bacause as being Juventus I've not played in europe yet.

Any help please? Am I doing something wrong or is the game being an arse!

Theres this little thing called form, you may have heard about it. Some geezer called Rooney or something went like 30 odd games without scoring, then scored a hattrick.

It would sound like before teams expected little of your Juventus side, therefore were more open to attack you (and it seems your tactic responded well to that) meaning you had some success.

Now that within Italy your team is considered a strong side, teams will close down your team and make it harder for your attacks (especially a lone striker)

Perhaps its time for a change, have a look over your past league games and see if they are indeed playing defensively. If thats the case then you might need to play a wider/attacking tactic to open these sides up abit.

The problem in my eyes comes down to the type of chances your team creates in the match engine ..

Having played at a high(ish) level of football when "I was a lad" as a striker - I very rarely see the types of chances created in FM07 that I myself used to thrive on - playing on the shoulder of the deepest defender and having balls played through for me to run on to.

And it has nothing to do with the players your playing or the tactics.

As the OP talks about Juventus - try setting up a Del Piero or a Nedved "in the hole", picking up the ball and sliding passes through to a fast nippy striker - it doesn't work.

I've played that first season with Juve in Seria B about 6 times now and no matter what tactic or approach you take - you have so many games where your such an overwhelming favourite, have 20 shots on goal but with only 2 on target and only scrape a 1-0 win (if your lucky). Don't tell me that players such as Del Piero can't find space but get closed down by players who'd struggle to get in my local pub team ..

The same is true in my latest game - as TNS in the Welsh League - So far and away a superior team to anything else in the league, yet its all huff and puff scraping 1-0 wins - EVEN tho I managed to bag a 15 passing, 14 Decisions and 14 creativity English League 1 AMC (who in the Welsh league is like a God) .. along with a striker with 13 finishing, 18 pace and 14 composure ..

Result ? AMC 4 assits 3 goals .. Striker 12 goals .. in 40 games ..

The only thing that seemed to improve things was as playing with Juve playing with 1 striker and 2 AMCs (Del Piero and Nedved) ..

To me this is where all the talk about "inconsistencey" is coming from on these forums - its not tactics or players - its the types of chances your able to create in the Match Engine - sometimes they fly in (and you win in games where you SHOULD win 4-0 .. 4-0) .. sometimes they don't (and you scrape a 1-0 win, 0-0 draw or suffer a 0-1 loss in the games where you SHOULD win 4-0).

Still working on it tho!

In my opinion, there is little you can do for your striker's finishing on one-on-ones with tactics. It'd be like a basketball coach changing his offense because his center missed a dunk. If you are training your players well, they should develop (or maintain) their ability to finish. If you have guys that are really bad at finishing one-on-ones, you should perhaps try to set up a tactic whereby when a guy gets loose he looks for a second man in support to make a run and get a tap-in goal.
