Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Are opponent scouting reports helpful?

So I get all these scouting reports about the opposition, but I don't know what to do with them. They say don't let the ball touch their feet and make them play it in the air. How can I dictate that? Or if a team plays a slow tempo game, how's that help me? Also, when they say "look out for this guy", what can I do since I can't double team. Any help on counters would be awesome. Thanks!

I find them pretty useless overall, but they add to the 'flavour' and make the game more immersive, I guess.

Play more direct football.

Play a high tempo.

Use the instructions you can set on matchday to always close down, hard tackle and force onto weaker foot on that player.

Scout reports are generally useless. This goes for them reporting on players too.

I think Spankie just underlined some good uses for the scout report.

The other one is if their attack has a large amount of pace, you can drop your defenders back abit deeper (defensive line setting) and make sure you do not play the off-side trap. Unless of course you have really pacey defenders.

If the opposing team has 'target men' who like to head the ball then you can always push up and catch these slower players offside

I would have to disagree, scout reports are very useful if you know how to use them, and if you are a big team then they are very useful to makre sure you dont get caught out against small teams

I find my scout reports very useful at this level. My scouts aren't the best outhere yet they do their job properly. I can set up my counter tactics vs oppo team just fine, and BTW thanks spankie for clearing some stuff up for me.
I also haven't paid much attention to for example "show onto weaker foot".

I've used hard tackling onto those star players, tho.

My scout quite correctly put up their summary when scouting the players, for example they give me usefull info about their price, work permits, and whether this player is quality, good, decent or last resort which is extremely useful.
IMO.
