Just wondering, is this after you went past the defense? It could be that the player simply doesn't want to blow the opportunity with an offside maneuver.

There is a bug in the game, when a striker does not orientate himself vis a vis near post and far post. This is an important bug that is going to be patched in the game and should address some of the concerns about strikers not passing or crossing when they should.

However having said that even after the patch, if a player has low teamwork then there is still going to be a chance that the same problem will emerge, but or a scale we can probably predict and perhaps handle
