It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Thanks for the help.

I'm playing away from home though. I just wanted to make sure if this is still the right way to play, even though i'm playing away?

But not tight.

Okay for away the only difference for me would be

Team Mentality 8.

You could try one cb man marking with the other sweeping up behind - this only works if Anelka is alone upfront though.

That would work well but he's not. They start with Anelka and Diouf unfront, when they score they bring there regen CM/ST upfront.

Iv'e played the game twice and drew the 1st game 1-1 (they did have 2 men set off though), i lost the 2nd 3-1 (i had 2 men sent off that time). I'll try again but play too small strikers, instead of the little, big man strike force.

How do you get your player to man mark a specific player?
For example i was playing Derby next and my scout picked up Matt Oakley as a possible match winner. So i set my DM to man mark him. Each time i went back to my DM's instruction during the game he was marking someone else. What's the point in picking a 'specific' player to mark if they are just going to change it to someone else?

Match 7 - Welling V Salisbury

Opposition Analysis

Formation = 4-4-2
Passing Style = Direct
Threat = Strikers Pace
Player To Watch = Matt Tubbs
Why = Pace

Further Analysis
Matt Tubbs
Pace = 13
Acceleration = 12
Determination = 14
Flair = 11
4 goals from 6 games

Declan McGregor
Pace = 10
Acceleration = 11
Determination = 18
Finishing = 10
3 goals from 6 games

Match Approach

Now I need to shackle these two in order to have any chance of winning. If I can prevent them scoring I will be happy.

Now they are both relatively weak in the air. So I need to encourage them to play the ball in the air.

Also their defenders look susceptible to pace.

I will play as follows

Team Mentality = 10
Team Passing = 8
Team Tempo = 8
Team Defensive Line = 5
Team Closing Down = 7
Team Width = 8
Focus Passing = Though the Middle

Match Result

Welling 1-0 Salisbury

I had 9 shots, 3 on target
They had 6 shots, 2 on target

I was happy with the performance, all 7 rating except scorer who had 8
I prevented them scoring, Matt Tubbs had 3 shots off target. McGreger has two out of two on, but my keeper did his job.

Just need to get some better movement going forward.

I tried the match again, using two small guys instead of the big man, little man strike force. I ended up beating them 1-0, the performance was a lot better than the last two tries.

I did change the defedensive line, so it was a little deeper. Anelka and Diouf were having a field day in the two matches before.

Well looking at the stats, Bolton were lucky to only conceed one goal.

Do you drop you D-Line to 6?

I hope this thread is helpful :thup: :thdn:

Everytime iv'e played them Shay Given has played like a man on a mission lol.

Yeh i dropped my D-Line as Anelka and Diouf were playing too well for my likeing.

The thread has been very helpful. I doubt i would have gotten a result against them without it :thup:.
