Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Training Question

I downloaded a few training schedules from the site to get a general idea of how people are setting up their schedules. I noticed that all the ones I'd downloaded had the training load at "normal".

Now I was wondering why is it only at normal? Why not high? Wouldnt it be true that if I set a high training load for players who're not playing every week and are still developing (aged 17-21 say) they'll develop faster? Or does it in any way hinder their progress if their workload is too high? OR does it depend on whether they're happy or unhappy with their work load? I realise that working them too hard increases the possibility of them getting injured for longer and more frequently. But I'm wondering it there are any problem besides that.

I was thinking of setting up two different schedules for players who're not regulars in the first team and are still developing and players who play week-in-week-out with the former getting a high training workload and the latter a lesser one.

Could someone clear this up for me please. Cheers!

I think you 've already understood it. High training may have two bad side effects:

- player becomeing unhappy with it. If that happens, you will know by checking his training overview screen. This may (or may not) hinder his development.

- Player getting injured. This is the most serious one. Getting injured does not just mean that the player is going to be absent from matches. It may also mean that the player may lose many crucial months of development. Also, in the worst case, he may pick up a recurring injury.

In my experience, (slightly) high training workload may only worth it with a player who:
a) Has low injury proneness
b) Has high natural fitness
c) is not required to play week in week out.

But then again, why take so many risks for a slightly faster development (who may end up slowed down by injuries)?
